FWIW - My understanding is, it comes down to who initiates the contact between 3rd party and player. i.e. if Hawthorn approach Adidas to do a deal with Buddy, not ok, but if Adidas approach Buddy because they now have an affiliation with HFC, it is fine. I seem to remember it being explained...

A couple of observations on Gilham: a) he reminds me of a raw Ben Rutten type, in stature, composure and skill b) he definitely played as a once off as a defensive forward on Fletcher, very similar to Murphy I think it was on Whitnall last year. Good move by Coaching Panel I think

Re: Birchall I thought he had high numbers but ineffective vs the crows, but was great again last week. Even becoming more complete, adding contested marking to his game. A fairly good year from a 2nd year player I would've thought.

I actually had him in my top 5 best for us, thought he restricted Foley's impact on the game massively, and he is clearly their most important player ATM.
