Yeah and you confirmed exactly what I suggested. Other than hitting a few sixes, at this point he's famous for being in the vicinity of Indians throwing tantrums.
Gilly seems to get away with being pretty hopeless. Should get the same flak Shane Warne rightly got for letting personal feelings cloud judgment.
Always the first one to go after Cummins when the top order bombs out. And rather than just calling a blatantly straightforward wicket, he butchers...
Other than being a rather aggressive strokemaker, what's so "in-your-face" about his attitude?
Being in the vicinity of Indians throwing tantrums counts as an attitude, does it?
I'm also expecting they will have midweek games to start the season, rather than squeezing in all 18 men's and women's matches into a 48-hour period on the weekend.
R1 could be something like:
Pretty dire from an attendance perspective, but it means never more than 2 games on at the same...

RUMOUR & SPECULATION
Midweek games
Pretty much confirmed to be a feature again but the...
40+ runs or 3+ wickets in all 4 innings, call it. A rare feat in Test cricket which seemingly comes in and out of fashion. Cummins would've been the first to manage it in 16 years... if Santner hadn't done it two weeks earlier.
Melbourne, 2024: Pat Cummins (49, 3/89, 41, 3/28)
Hamilton, 2024...
The Lineup and Closing Thoughts
First thing I love about the selected 25 is its toughness. Only Conti and Riddell wouldn’t have some variation of the word among their 3 or 4 most prominent superpowers, and they’ve nevertheless always gone when their turn to go would come. As for fairness, yes...
Shannon McFerran
24 of these players should be inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, starting from next year. The other one should’ve entered quite some time ago. Considering they’ve already waited too long to give Debbie Lee some company, I’m sick to the guts about the prospect...
Erin Phillips
Only being able to talk up her 66 matches by demonstrating NFI about Daisy’s 256 would be sufficiently shameful, but now I fear time spent at the two SA clubs has both supporter bases rewriting history to downplay Erin’s influence: Crows fans delusional enough to think they would...
Horrible idea, and thankfully no chance of happening in 2025.
The Swans and Giants games in a Sydney GR would be the centrepiece fixtures at NSO/Henson Park, with triple headers built around those games, rather than separating them from the core event. For reasons which should be obvious.
Yeah...
Positions to be filled are the centre, rover, full-forward, and the other HFF and forward pocket.
I'll do the first 3 members of the leadership group tomorrow, then close it out with the captain and vice-captain on Sunday along with the 25 honourable mentions.
Madison Prespakis
When all is said and done, her heart should be kept inside a glass box at the National Museum of Australia, and her shoulders—ever bearing the load of overachieving teams—melted down into sunscreen or whatever else titanium is used for. Prespakis attacks the ball, and...
Emma Kearney
Speaking of the Mugars, here comes their most successful AFLW product tearing up the inside rail to, I would submit, take an early lead in the Shinboner of the New Century stakes. And she loves the slop. Loves it. Eats it up.
Louise Knitter
Another elusive stalwart in the way...
Neither Nicole or any other brand of Garner is among the first 10 players called up to the daïs.
This one where she's 14 but looks about 8 always seems funny to me for some reason:
Michelle Dench
It’s easier to find high-quality pictures of Sergeant Dench’s award-winning police dog (named Archer) than of DoD wearing a footy jumper. (That perhaps sounds as if the dog wears footy jumpers, but hopefully you get what I mean.) Named on the wing opposite Monique Conti, whose...
Well you'll definitely find out who I rate higher than Vescio and Hope.
Not intentionally stringing this out either btw, I just haven't finished writing the blurbs yet.
There is some hierarchy built in with the emergency/bench/on-field selections, and via one other method which will reveal itself in due course.
But mainly I just did what they always do with these things, which is pick the players I like and then find a way to Tetris them together.
Ally Anderson
With the introduction of televised games happening when it did, there hasn’t been a more thoroughly documented steady rise through the ranks of a senior player. There are late bloomers who burst onto the scene from obscurity, and down-on-form prodigies who quickly turn their...
This is a thread dedicated to the 25 greatest women's footballers since the year 2000 (aka the BigFooty age) in my judgment.*
I'm planning to go so hard this NYE that it will likely result in severe memory loss, at the very least. So I figured I'd better publish all my definitive thoughts...
Clubs are entitled to 6 home games each next year. That means there'll be about 50 games in Melbourne.
Unless the ACT Government puts forth an attractive offer to relocate 9 of those games, a Canberra GR makes no sense.
...it's about making more money.
Ideally it isn't done in a way that dramatically reduces competition fairness. For an 18-team competition, 13 rounds where some teams play 7 home and others play 6 home games is arguably fairer than 12 rounds where every team plays 6 home and 6 away.
I guess one of three things:
No GR held whatsoever, resulting in 7 home games for some teams and 6 for others.
GR in one of the major markets, resulting in 7 home games for some teams and 6 for others.
GR in another location, resulting in 6 home games and 6 away games and 1 neutral game for all...
That has no bearing on whether it would actually be a good venue for Gather Round.
And if GR is held in any of them but Melbourne, in a 12-round season, some teams will end up with 7 home games while others get as few as 5. Maybe you think that's fine, but it's not reasonable imo.
It would mean an entire round of games untarnished by bad weather (and sink holes) at a venue with world class spectator facilities. By no means trivial additions to the typical AFLW product.
Sounds like you're kneejerking there. Having it in Melbourne wouldn't necessarily mean more content for Victoria.
The fairest way of doing a Gather Round in a 12-round season (which is the confirmed length for next year) would actually be to have the 9 Melbourne teams play at Marvel against the...
That's dumb. We would've happily kept Ashmore if she was willing to be paid at Amy Smith's rate.
Who's getting more bang for buck: us or Hawthorn? It's not even close.
