Interesting new possibility raised in tomorrow's Courier Mail:
I think that site is slightly larger than the current Gabba site, which would likely make it easier to work with.
It's also already set up for construction as the Cross River Rail site, and wouldn't require a school to be torn...
I was open minded about the logo, but the jumper is awful. It would be a bad training shirt. I'm surprised they didn't do some kind of public consultation first.
It's a tricky one, but I'm not sure what other colours would have worked well for a Gold Coast based team. It will make the clash a nightmare for the first QClash Grand Final in 2025 though.
I'm surprised how much I like it, actually. Was not expecting to, but the more I look at it the more I'm a fan. Will wait to see it on a guernsey before being fully sold though, but it does feel much more like a serious football club logo than what they've had so far.
I'm definitely not saying it's likely, I'm just saying that it's much more likely than it logically should be.
For it to happen once would be noteworthy enough - falling from the best team in the competition one year to not even in the top eight the following year is quite a dramatic drop...
To be fair, that is a pretty significant stat. For a team to be the best in the competition one year and then not in the top eight sides the following year that often is odd.
It suggests that finding the hunger to go again after you've achieved the ultimate success might be something that...
Agree, although the carrot of playing in the new Olympic stadium if you can hold on for a few years might be enough to get them through to the other side if that happens. The RNA would certainly be a better option than Carrara at any rate.
I've been a September member for 7 years and it's jumped up to $100 for me too. Looks like the Digital Memberships have gone up in price as well unfortunately!
Can't imagine the LNP Lord Mayor would be saying this to the LNP Premier unless it was genuinely a possibility.
Also quite a turn from how vehemently Schrinner came out against a Vic Park stadium at the start of the year.
Lord Mayor Says Victoria Park Must Be Considered In Olympic Venue Review
If they go with the Gabba, surely it'd be unlikely that they'd stick with the original timeline. Can't see them being ready to tear it down by the end of next year.
To memory, that timeline had it under construction from 2025-2029, opening in 2030. If this 100 day review is done by early next...
I'm sure 20 year old footballer Josh Fahey's routine had the same tact, comic ability, and understanding of nuance as one of the best comedians of all time.
Surely it goes without saying that the topic isn't necessarily the issue, it's the approach.
The AFL is generally keen to sweep any &...
I can't think of a single comedian who would make the kind of joke about the Hayne situation that was supposedly made by Fahey. Certainly none who would do it in a graphic way.
As others have said, there are plenty of jokes made by professional comedians that you wouldn't be able to use at a...
There are a few younger players on our list who've shown varying degrees of promise though without being able to nail down a spot, and we'd likely be willing to trade one or two of them. Dev Robertson, Jaxon Prior, Harry Sharp and James Tunstill are the names that come to mind, and each of them...
There are definitely plenty of P2s who missed out, and plenty of P3s who got tickets. Not sure how that works - maybe the P3s requested a smaller number of tickets?
At any rate, plenty more have missed out this year than did last year. So the bandwagon is growing!
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
The chorus already has lion in there - so we should be okay!
The last few sides to make a grand final from outside the top 4 have had the dream run come crushing down on Grand Final day.
The Giants were just never in it in 2019 (after a very similar run to Brisbane's, with an incredibly close semi final away & close prelim final away too), and the Dogs...
Oh there are certainly plenty of them. I am not one, though. Feel quite sure it'll be Geelong by about 6 goals. It's just about footy's most consistent, reliable outfit against its most sporadic, unpredictable one.
That estimate always seemed impossibly low. I reckon Quirk went with $3.2 billion for Vic Park knowing it would actually be able to be delivered under that price.
