I really don't think any of the 46 players playing will be treating it like an easy game. Of all of the games in the year, this is the easiest one to find motivation to give 100%.
We have a rivalry? Since when? Honestly, I like Suns, Swans and Giants over those "heartland" teams who call us "interstate".
We genuinely are quite set at the ruck level. Oscar is a bit of a cult figure, but he isnt a superstar ruck. He absolutely does his job and plays the level, but losing...
On review, I gotta say...
The standard of umpiring was atrocious. So many terrible calls (in both directions). I thought Haw v PA was bad. This was worse. So inconsistent.
No, thats the interpretation of the rules. Don't get me wrong, it had to be 50. They pay that every time, and if they didn't for us, I'd be pissed. But it shouldn't be the interpretation.
He wasn't time wasting. He tried to give the ball back quickly, as he's required to do. Dunkley called for...
So, Port vs their bunnies next week. Last time Sydney beat Port was 2016.
Bris vs GWS: I reckon genuine 50/50.
Bris vs Geel (MCG): I have us slight favourites. Call it 60-40 Brisbane.
Bris vs Port: 80-20. We smack Port.
Our hardest game this week.
Pretty classless from Ken.
But Mitchell can't sook about a young fella because he copped a response.
Ken's job was on the line and he knew it. He celebrated a bit too much. He apologised. Move on.
Commentators talking of the Ginnivan 14 day quip.
Honestly, when one of the club songs literally says "the premiership's a cakewalk"... storm in a teacup.
It's just a chart of most points for vs least points against... yeah, the premiers will usually be in the top 6 points for, and the bottom 6 points against... but the bulldogs being in there never meant much. You look through their results - they aren't impressive. Big wins over weak teams, and...
In the first, was really hopeful that the dogs would knock the hawks out. We are just their bunnies. Alas.
Swans and Hawks. Both of those I'd have as favourites over us. Everyone else, I reckon we should win (admittedly, I'm talking 60-40 odds in both directions)
I think at this stage, our options are:
beat the Bombers, finish 5th, host Carlton in W1
we lose to the Bombers, finish 8th, take on the Dogs in W1.
Honestly, I know the dogs are getting a bit of talk recently, but I'm not rating them. I'm thinking either matchup is fine.
I'd say we're no...
Harry Sharp - for all the focus on using your weapons, I think I've seen him hit full speed on a football field once. I just dont get the appeal.
Joyce had a game to forget, but obviously can't drop him at present.
Final 5 mins, Pies got 6 free kicks to 0.
The problem is, 4 of them were there, and 1 was 50/50. Only 1 I disagreed with. The non-calls weren't great, and gee it was frustrating... but still, we gave the Pies too much chance to get back in the game.
Surprised to see so many denying that Collingwood deserved that 50.
There's two issues here.
Mcrae whinging - yeah, dumb. And admitting that the MCG is a huge benefit to Collingwood - own goal.
But on the other hand. He's right. It was 50m every day of the week. The player ran over the mark...
I was thinking during the game... is our side too young for Grand Final football at the moment?
Obviously before finals we're looking for Hipwood back for Smith, Payne back for Joyce. That leaves us with:
Ashcroft
Brain
Fletcher
Lohmann
Morris
Wilmot
That's over a quarter of your team, and...
