Dave Astbury had a "car wreck" of a knee injury, including an ACL and full knee dislocation, that took a very long time to come back from, but he ended up being a key part of our dynasty. I'm sure as long as we don't rush him and be patient that he'll be back just fine.
I think we have already taken our ruck in Sims, he's already the same height as Nank and should add a few more cm on given he's still only 18. It's also up to Samson Ryan at 206cm/24yo to see if he has what it takes over the next 3 years before Nank retires.
Since when did 27 become too old? Lefau could potentially play another 5-6 years if he stays healthy.
I feel like you are also expecting way too much from 1st year key talls. I'm sure they'll all get some games, but they traditionally take a lot longer to be AFL ready. For example, Sam Darcy...
I tend to agree on just taking the best player even if it's a tall as we can always use the other pick for more balance. Either way, it's good to have options and I don't think we need to be worried about a tall being the clear #1 pick. We should be able to make the most of the situation.
Discuss? Sure, but you said they could have easily have made those trades
I'm not so sure we would have traded away 3 picks in the Top 25 of this draft just to get Pick 2, we were taking calls as early as 11 and no one could offer us enough to pull the trigger, so I just don't think it was going...
At this stage we'll only have 2-3 selections in the draft, our 2 early picks and maybe Kellaway as FS late.
We'll need some space for elevations to retain Seth Campbell, Bauer & Tresize I think
If we finish last, I actually think that is the best-case scenario if there's a standout tall at Pick 1.
By then we'll have a good read on the talls we've taken already and if we don't think there's a couple of 200 game players there then we take the tall at Pick 1. If we're already confident...
Let's see if he can perform in finals before putting him on the top echelon of players, far too premature calls on him so far
Plenty of superstars in the H&A season can't back it up when the pressure it really on
Notice how Reid gets a 5-0 head start but by the end the result is much closer?
Goes to show how much recruiting has improved over the years to identify the better talent.
Take out 2010-2014 and it ends up being 2 to Reid, 4 to both players & 2 ties, that's pretty good odds.
It's only half an hour, pretty easy listen
Nothing too in depth on each player, a lot of it was around how most players were super competitive, wanting to get the best out of themselves, driven, etc
Was asked about traits they look for, which he gave some examples of, but also didn't want to...
