GM vs Suns should be a physical game, I'll go with the Suns in a tight one on the back of Milligans grunt & Fentons class.
As for VP vs Carrara, I'm not 100% convinced that half the blokes down at VP really care if they win or not so I'll go with Carrara to progress on passion alone.
In the...
With VP's away record so far they aren't a sure thing at Redcliffe this week.
Ipswich will push Moorooka at home regardless in the last round, but with that extra incentive of an unlikely finals spot they could be really dangerous.
I just looked at the ladder & it seems VP are now a game behind Park Ridge going into this round?? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure they were even at the start of the week?? Maybe you blokes are right & they have done something amiss.
If wasting my money over the bar at the Sharks counts as involvement then yes, guilty as charged. Can't make it today but should be a cracker in what is effectively an elimination final for both sides.
Ipswich
Roosters
Wynnum
Bond
VP just, but no Moncur could be the difference..
I've got no involvement at VP but I seriously doubt they would risk a new clubs reputation by playing a bloke under his own name. He was cleared so as far as I can gather AFLQ should explain the mess up.
While we're on the topic how many UQ/Coomera/Yeronga players can we expect to see on Park...
It was the same Moncur that was dominating Redlands playing for Mt Gravatt 10+ years ago.
I don't know the actual rules but considering he played under his real name he was obviously cleared, so I'd assume it's an AFLQ issue not Viccy Point pulling a swifty?
Saying that Carrara were nowhere...
VP is just a short drunken stumble home from me so I've seen most of their home games this year, comparing the two sides they lost their starting on ballers-Parker/Proud/Broome/Hede, CHF-Moncur, FF-Heath, FB-Schulz, CHB-Moor, HFF-Aldridge, plus a couple of kids that must have come from the...
Why bother against Bond away?? 4 won't be enough down there.
Pretty sure VP aren't too fussed about protecting percentage if that's the reason, they either win or rest 10 & lose by 15 goals..
I think the comp learnt today that if VP's pedigree are up & about they are a quality side, saying that they'll probably have 10 changes for next week & lose by 10 goals..
A combination of splendour & Carrara's poor discipline probably helped them though.
You'd think they would be reasonably happy so far considering they've played 55 odd players through the 1's. Compare that to GM's 28 & who knows what they could be capable of in years to come with some stability in the line up.
Went out to watch Bond for the first time Saturday, unless they were missing a ruckman & a key deep fwd I think the Roosters should have them covered come finals. The majority of their goals rely heavily on run & carry from the half back line/midfield to create an overlap downfield, negate that...
Fair point, Buswell would be closer to 50 than 30 & he still moves pretty well. Just saying injuries are more prevalent when plus 30 so keeping an experienced list on the park can be half the battle.
With the exception of Ruf & Reading those blokes are on the wrong side of 30 which probably explains why they have't been on the park together. But your right, if the stars align they definitely could be the dark horse from 5th.
Been lurking around here for a while so thought I'd finally post something, don't crucify me! From what I've seen the ladder will end up something close to;
Bond - Class above with youth, run & carry. Only question mark is how they'll handle finals footy.
Griffith Moorooka - Been there, done...
