No - only delete the # from the start of the line that contains Richmond at the end
Line should read:
?player wdt: P54 wd:Q2521385 . #Richmond
This line means select players with P54 (member of sports team) = Q2521385 (Richmond Football Club); the #Richmond part is just a comment so you know...
I think this is the best thread to post this in….
Over the past few months I’ve searched for burial/cremation records for all Australian rules footballers with death dates recorded in wikidata - this has generated the death date corrections I've posted on the Inaccuracies thread.
In summary...
Hi Daics - this one came from a list of 96 I sent to Oliver back in Feb (from a reconciliation of wikidata and af.com). For all of these changes there should be either a source in the wikipedia article or a grave record linked on wikidata that shows the source for the "correct" date.
There are...
Brian Chisholm (South Melb) died last year but seems to have been missed in footy record updates - he died in Berrigan, NSW and his date of death was 31 May 2023
Someone (probably family) updated his wiki page at the time, and he also received a posthumous OAM just after his death.
Oliver G
Trevor Heath (Essendon, Eastlake, West Perth, Subiaco) has death date 25 October 2021 on australianfootball.com (and originally wikipedia until it was updated by someone 18 months ago)
His full name was Trevor James Heath and Karrakatta Cemetery records and Ryerson Index both confirm that 20...
Max Nixon (Essendon) is currently recorded with death date 14 January 2019.
His full name was Maxwell John Nixon and he was a farmer in Orbost after his football career
His cremation record from Gippsland Memorial Cemetery gives actual death date of 6 January 2019 and has DOB that matches that...
Graeme McLean (St Kilda) is currently recorded with death date 7 March 2013.
His full name was Graeme Gilleain McLean and he died in Tatura according to Ryerson Index death notices and death notices are all from mid May 2013. Electoral rolls show him living in St Kilda area and then Geelong...
Been looking at this tonight - I'm pretty confident that the Dandenong brothers are John Leslie (Les) b1910 and Albion Stanley (Albie) b1912, sons of Alfred John Williams and Maud Morris. Ages fit well with the football careers as they both seem to first appear in the press around 1930. The...
Ron Rann (North Melb) is currently recorded with death date 30 March 2006.
He died in Perth and Perth MCB records show actual date of death was 20 March 2006 (again possibly a typo in when date was recorded)
Full name was Ronald John Rann and his ashes are interred at Karrakatta Cemetery...
And another death date issue (for context I've been adding burial/cremation details to wikidata and in the process finding a few anomalies - will post elsewhere with some details as its now 80% complete and will be of interest to some of you)
Ted Brewis of Carlton - he was in the missing deaths...
Stan Brown (South Melb) is currently recorded with death date 16 September 1994.
Somewhere someone appears to have made a typo as correct date is 16 September 1984 - one decade earlier
Full name was Stanley Maxwell Brown and he died at Traralgon (Vic BDM 1984/28054) and is buried at Yallourn...
That is him... and he's on facebook - living in Warracknabeal by the looks of it. In 2018 there are posts on 7 April wishing him happy birthday and refs to his family being in Qld. Correct spelling seems to be Glenn Scanlan
Tom Tribe (Footscray) is currently recorded with death date 23 December 1992.
He was the brother of George Tribe, parents were Albert John Tribe and Annie Teresa McGrath.
There are only three Thomas Tribes that appear to have ever lived in Victoria, and two of them have 1992 death records
The...
This is him: https://www.gmct.com.au/deceased/2922668 with death date of 15 September 2014. Birth date matches footy records.
His full name was George James Rattray, lived in Ringwood all of his life, married Annette Lilyan Fowler in 1955
Ken Goodland (Geelong) is currently recorded with death date 26 March 1982.
Player was Kenneth Gilmore John Goodland and from his burial record and NSW BDM it can be seen he actually died on 26 March 1983 (one year later than currently recorded - probably just from a typo somewhere)
Summary...
Another death date correction
Fred Williams (Carlton/Fitzroy) is currently recorded with death date 7 March 1975.
Player was Frederick Watson Williams, born in North Melbourne to Frederick Williams (1866–1933) and Mary Henderson Watson (1871–1940) and had a brother Thomas Chapman Williams...
Jack McMillan (Footscray) is currently recorded with death date 30 August 1969.
Find a Grave has newspaper death notices attached to record which shows actual death date was 1 August 1969 and cemetery records show service was 4 August 1969 - Vic BDM shows only one death for a John Angus McMillan...
Leon Beer (SM) is currently recorded with death date 12 February 1966.
There is a month error in this date as death notice and grave both show death date was 12 January 1966
Summary: Date of death for Leon Beer is 12 January 1966 rather than 12 February 1966
The currently recorded death date for Bill Ayling (Coll) appears to be incorrect.
Ayling was the son of (Henry) Anthony Ayling and Martha Ayling, nee Wheeler, and was born in Mitcham, South Australia on 26 March 1878
The family moved to Victoria when he was small (his sister’s birth was...
Jack Kidd (Carlton, Essendon, Fitzroy) has death of 26 February 1960 in online footy records (wiki, blueseum, af.com)
Death notices show date of death was 26 March 1960 and cemetery record shows cremation was 29 March 1960 - looks like a simple month data entry error.
Summary: Death date for...
Tom Mullens (Carlton, Footscray) has death of 9 August 1961 in online footy records (wiki, blueseum, af.com)
Death notices show date of death was 4 August 1961 and cemetery record shows burial was 8 August 1961 so 9th is clearly incorrect.
Summary: Death date for Tom Mullens is 4 August 1961...
Bill Wilson's wife was Merle Ruby Wilson (nee Neilson) who died in 2013 (the linked notice clearly names her as wife of the footballer!) - unfortunately none of the death notices I can find name the children, but from Ancestry trees he had three children
William Phillip Wilson (1951-2005) - he...
Death date for Les Amery (Richmond, Camberwell, Norwood) is currently recorded as 19 April 1999
Probate notice on Ancestry and cremation record confirms 19 April 1998 is the correct death date
Summary: Death date for Les Amery is 19 April 1998 (rather than 19 April 1999)

Death date for Bill Harvey (NM) is currently recorded as 6 September 1957
Death notice in newspaper and grave confirms 6 April 1957 is the correct death date
Summary: Death date for Bill Harvey is 6 April 1957 (rather than 6 September 1957)
Oliver G
Death date for Ted Brown (Carlton) is currently recorded as 8 Dec 1958 in both af.com and blueseum
It was updated on wikipedia (but not wikidata) to 8 Dec 1957 a few years back and this is correct
Death/funeral notice in newspaper confirms 1957 death date (confusion probably arose b/c death was...
Death date for Will Houghton (Uni) is recorded as 22 Mar 1952
Death notice in newspaper shows actual death date was 26 March 1952
Summary: Death date for Will Houghton is 26 March 1952 (rather than 22 Mar 1952)
Oliver G
Death date for Bill Lynch (Rich) is recorded as 9 Nov 1947

Oliver G, rbartlett
