    Autopsy Lions prevail by 10

It’s a big offseason for Stewart. His form dropped off with the tag and I think his on-field leadership came up wanting. If in defence I would love for him to take a more accountable role and focus on winning his one on one match up and worry about intercepts after. Maybe pass the torch to baby...

    Autopsy Lions prevail by 10

Watching last night I came away with the same observation. That saints game and the PF were eerily similar - even down to Duncan ineffectual sub. We don’t really have an answer for that type of game style especially as our players fatigue in the second half. I’m not sure how you defend against...

Autopsy Cats lose their way in 18 points loss to Saints

Watching this game live and seeing so many of our players not have the ability to use their opposite foot really highlights a lack of left footers in this team. It seems in the modern football landscape very little discussion is given to which foot a player kicks with, but this game is still...

Rumour GFC 2022 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

Whats peoples thoughts on our KPD depth? With De Konin out for concussion protocols I don't believe we have any other key defenders on our list. This would require a structural shifting coming into round 2 (Henry/Kolo to a second and third tall roles). What would everyone think would be our back...

    Kangaroos Steal Greenwood from Suns

Even taking these scenarios into play, he would have ben open to any club through the draft no? If the plan was to re-draft him any club could have taken him in the national draft with a later pick? So it's not surprising at all he got scooped up at north let alone another club come draft day.

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists... Part II

These comments don't fill me up with much optimism going into 2022. I feel as though we are just treading water this offseason regarding our list, reloading with the same group and our so-so picks. I'm not sure it'll change anything in the way of success, I'll gladly be proven wrong tho.

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

I think those are the same names I'd be looking at. I think Blicavs would attract interest from teams in need for a tall KPD like St Kilda, Power and maybe Bulldogs (we could weasel out a late first round pick). The latter guys mentioned I would try to work out a player for player swap similar...

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

Guthrie fresh off a 4 year deal would be hard to move... I can't help but feel if he wasn't a free agent we would have been more conservative with contract length. As for Duncan I get the concerns with Selwood and Danger but Duncan is no spring chicken himself. I doubt we can truly expect a 30...

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

I agree... Clarks kicking seemingly regressed after his first season so that hints at fitness/confidence issues. He couldn't be a worse kick than 3 quarters of our backline who specialise in 40 metre "bombs" down the line or 20 metre Crappy Patty Crab kicks.

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

Which one of the senior players could you realistically envision being used as trade bait to refresh the list? I could see Menagola being a good fit at a team like Carlton, perhaps a player like Duncan could be attractive to a contending team looking for veteran leadership/class (I would only...

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

Clark went from seemingly our most talented first round pick in recent history to being in the abyss. He has the speed and dare to take the game on (maybe the latter has been coached out of him) and I believe would add a change of pace to our backline that is sorely missed.

Certified Legendary Thread 2 x Premiership Coach Chris Scott contracted to 2026 (aka the Chris Scott volumes

As supporters we tune in every week to support our team for our weekend entertainment. When you lose a completely uncompetitive prelim by 83 points (in my eyes the worse possible way to end a season) you reflect on the season to pick some highpoints to just gather some hope and excitement for...

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

This team needs an injection of speed. We have a collection of tugboats roaming around out there. We threw Holmes (who is not the most talented or traditionally "fast" but has young speedy legs) into the midfield just to provide a change of pace. I'm not sure how the club can go about it but it...

Autopsy Geelong smashed by Demons in PF and its gonna be a long summer

It may not be our choice... the cliff is ever prevalent. I doubt the eagles decided to drop off this season just like many teams bygone. To continually expect the same group to front up knowing they are older, more banged up and ever increasingly not up to it is extremely taxing psychologically...

Autopsy Geelong smashed by Demons in PF and its gonna be a long summer

I think the coaching panel needs a refresh. Some new voices wouldn't be the worse thing to happen to the club. I'll be looking at our forward coach and stoppages coach. Looking back not just to last night, but against Port Adelaide which was trashing in its own right, our forward structure...

What is required from here onwards to win the premiership?

I don't want to pile on Dahlhaus but has it ever been more noticeable that a player has been completely cooked for AFL football? I don't even blame him as he is doing what he can with the tools at his disposal... he can't kick, run or jump. He throws his body in but at this point he is just an...

Rumour GFC 2021 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists

Jacob Hopper would be perfect for this squad but I don't see any means we could secure him from the giants... both trade and contract wise. I think this team just needs to hit on some quality draft prospects across multiple positions. Multiple first round/early second round bust (Smedts, Lang...

Autopsy Geelong loses to PA in QF2 by about 6 goals.

Considering the amount of crucial errors Lachie Henderson made I'm astonished he spent the entire game on the ground (100% TOG) and never came to the bench for a spell, rev up or even words of encouragement from the coaching staff. Despite being one of the oldest and most experienced teams I...

Review Rd 9: Geelong defeats Saints by 21 points

Given our lack of height down back and our reluctance to station Blicavs as a full time key defender could Ratugolea be that option. Stanley brings more as a ruckman and Ratugolea's spot in the team is questionable given we are well stocked for key forwards. He has the height and athleticism to...

Golden State Warriors thread - All Star 5

Steph is lax on defence in terms of transition and man to man regularly, but it can be easily oversighted as the team style allows that kind of play. But the team and Steph raise the intensity defensively when needed. It's just something that warriors need to check on, so bad habits aren't too...

List Mgmt. 2016 general list discussion and speculation (cont in Pt.2)

I believe it will take time, I'm hoping Geelong head down the side deal rout where Adelaide don't match and accept compo pick (14), and we in turn with the side deal send pick 9 and a second rounder this year or next or a player like GHS for kerridge and a third rounder. Of course this will...

I do think we will pick up one delisted free agent this offseason (maybe two), like it has been stated we could go past pick 100 to replace possible vacancies in the list. I would look at one of Grimly or Woodward, I believe bring in delisted players of top clubs not loser clubs if DFA or...
