NORTH and SOUTHS was a great contest in the grand final other day. Souths were very lucky to win due to poor kicking from North and that lucky goal in last quarter from a 50m penalty. North not only missed goals, they hit 3 posters and many out on the full. High tackling and pressure game and...
some teams in the regional get beaten by over 200 quite often. lot of good leagues with good clubs struggle to have unders teams, as kids today are not interested in football. suburban footy in melbourne has same problems 2. Koroit are way 2 good for the Hampden league and are hot favorites...
Hi Everyone, long time and no one has been talking on this platform for a long time. After 2 rounds plus Good Friday clash, the competition is looking shakey, its future. There is a massive gap between the top 3 teams and the bottom 6 teams. Portland is in between, while Koroit and North are...
After watching Koroit and North in 2nd Semi, Koroit has confirmed they are very warm favorites for the flag, going by their performance. So many match winners and I think North need more key position players in the team to be a threat. No real key fwds in the team. With Koroit, they have so...
Hi! We are past half way through the year. Most of the year, I've been saying top 3 is even, then the next 2. Then there is a gap with next 2 got little chance of making finals. But the bottom 3 are way behind. Going by recent form, I would still say Koroit are the favorites for the flag...
Great win, but Ballarat had a B grade side as many big names did not make themselves available. I was reading Ballarat league forum on this site 3 weeks a go.
Women plays best of 3 sets while men plays best of 5. I believe 5 sets is way to long but 3 (for men) would be bit short for Grand Slams. Only solution would be is best of 4 sets, and if it's 2 set all, whoever's got more games will be the winner. Thoughts!
Back in the 80s, the area the league covered was from Hawkedale right up to Tatyoon, both ways. Since then, towns like McCarther, Lismore, and Great Western have teams in this Mininera comp, therefore the traveling is very distant. Must draw the line the size of the area the comp covers...
Souths as u would of seen in the papers (some of them) have lost Eagleson, Mahoney, B Thorton (reserves), Saunders and Hussey. But have picked up Charlie Lee, Al Porter and Jock Blair. Midfield depth has taking a beating. Will still be a good side but not premiership material, as Hussey and...
i just saw that letter now. i didn't write it but this guy did write a good letter. I'm not that well educated nor do I have good grammer skills to write a good letter like that..lol
I think docking Koroit 3 points is a disgrace. Punishing teams for being good and well managed. it's like Hawthorn after their 3 peat, reducing their salary cap. This won't effect Koroit because they won't use all their points next season. But it's the principle. Sporting comps in Australia...
Would be good for the comp if Portland becomes more competitive on a regular basis. I know they won 4 at start and 2 at finish, but in between times, the losses were very bad and I felt for u Portland people. Hopefully more recruits will come in, and the side becomes more competitive...
3 clubs are still yet to appoint coaches for season 2019, Souths, Portland and Camperdown. Does anyone have any updates on it? Bucky has gone back to Koroit as an assistant, as reported in the Standard.
Last year I thought the talk was, the salary cap was going to be $160,000 and I thought it would of been in this year. Apart from Port Fairy, not sure if many clubs would be spending over $150,000 on their playing list.
Pretty much true what u said, but my concern is, that Koroit will be way ahead of the comp in the next couple years at least. Just the 9 other clubs will have very little chance to win a flag. Their just going thump the mid to lower order teams. Souths brought a lot of home talent back in...
they wouldnt able to fit him in, due to the points system, unless they lose a couple that are worth some points themselves. Having 4 VFL standard players back next year, will wreck our comp. Getting greedy at Koroit! 15 goal better side then the rest of comp. Only good thing is our...
Camperdown's intensity and pressure was outstanding , they had a crack. They lack key forwards, back up ruckman and spread of goalkickers. Their disposal was not clean, but they can still be proud of themselves. Very physical game and the crowd was loud and really involved. Good for footy...
Hi again! In regards to Bucky at South Wbool, I have heard more since I last spoke. Parents disputing selection decisions would of been the final straw of Buck leaving, I believe. He and wife are school teachers and got 2 young kids, so the coaching work load would of got to him at the end...
Ben and Sam Dobson, M Darmody and James Gow will be back at Koroit next year. Could be 8 premierships in a row now. This won't be good for the comp with Koroit's future domination. What HampdenMad said about Norths recruiting is correct. Josh Saunders will be playing in the Geelong FL next...
HampdenMAD great to see you back. We missed all your news and best wishes to your health. First of all Bucky left for family reasons as the players and some committee had a meeting last night. Ignore any silly rumours. All very disappointed at the club but they are moving forward. My...
Hi everyone! On this site as well as other comps in this West side of Ballarat, seems not much interest in posting local footy news. This feels outdated as most are into facebook or instagram. Back to the Hampden League now, looks like Koroit are above the comp and the rest is very even. No...
I was talking to a guy who's good friends with someone connected to Portland. Portland is getting a few recruits from South Australia. Next year I think the Hampden League will rise in standard and will be more even. Warrnambool is a bit quiet in their recruiting so far. No matter what we...
Hamilton's recruiting has been outstanding and Terang has been good so far. Hate to say this, I think Portland will finish on the bottom of the ladder. I do want to see them be competitive, as they are traditionally a great club. Port Fairy wont be spending as much next year, and I think some...
Any of u guys who was at the Granny, please comment on the game! Half of the game was in wet conditions. Port had a lot of the play but didnt convert. Last quarter Koroit had all the play while there was 1 on the bench for Port. I thought Koroit were better users of the ball and had a better...
Get some funny stories over the years when some of these cocky footy/netball teams get in the Grand Final, they have these premiership T-shirts printed up before the game. Thing is they unexpectedly lose and have to turf the T-shirts out. It's been happening in a lot of comps in this region...
