    Analysis Why are we s**t?

A bit random but was doing the Sunday Aldi shop earlier and overheard 2 dudes talking Essendon. Both supporters, so as scooted passed them I chirped in we the old “ I feel ya pain fellas”. One of them just started chatting and for I bloke I’d never met before we had similar feelings. 1. It’s...

Coach Men's Senior Coach: Brad Scott

Could not agree more with this. I said to my old man earlier, that aside from a couple of games the effort and will has been pretty consistent. The blokes out there are just not very good footballers. That’s not Brads fault. Yes he could’ve been more ruthless at selection but you can’t really...

AFL Autopsy R20: Smashed by the Saints, and the season is cooked.

Satire? Let’s get Sheeds in the box whilst we’re at it hey!

AFL Autopsy R20: Smashed by the Saints, and the season is cooked.

the reason for our current plight is the same as it has been forever. Dodoro! We just don’t have enough good players on the list. When I say good, I mean good decision makers, highly skilled, can execute under pressure, have resilience. Dodoro just drafts the wrong people and then keeps the...

AFL Autopsy RND 6: Loss to the Pies

I think what hurts most is the Collingwood factor. When watching them as a neutral I actually like them. No real hateable I want to punch them in the face type players. But, I loath their supporter base and the sycophantic media chanting. When other teams taste the ultimate success I’m generally...

AFL Autopsy RND 6: Loss to the Pies

It’s really hard as a supporter to not be distraught after that…But, we simply got steam rolled by a fitter and cleaner side. I was waiting(probably more hoping) some momentum would swing back our way in the last but it just never came. We couldn’t touch it and when we did we panic handballed to...

AFL Autopsy RND3: Beaten by the Saints

We were outplayed most of the night and only list by 3 goals. I’ll somewhat take some positives out of that. Red man played his worst game in 2 years, never recovered from his disaster of a first 10 minutes. Heppell…ummm how do we get out of this situation?? Surely BScott is the one to do it...

AFL Autopsy One of the worst losses of the year vs weagles.

The most predictable result ever. Was just always going to happen. That sums us up. I actually can’t fault the effort but execution as always is the problem. Pretty much sums up everything the club does. Tries to do the right thing but inevitably doesn’t have anyone who can execute consistently...

Game Day Round 15: The West Coast v Essendon, Friday June 24, 8.40pm AEST - Optus Stadium

Nothing wrong with 17 shots at half time but we just miss too many gettable goals. Mids, forwards, utility types…they all just miss and destroy the most basic fundamental of the game.

Game Day Round 15: The West Coast v Essendon, Friday June 24, 8.40pm AEST - Optus Stadium

Seriously our conversion rate is amateur and it costs us time and time again. Scoreboard pressure is king and we are truly the dunce

    Opinion My all time favourites

Fletch had an unbelievably high footy IQ. His decision making with ball in hand was impeccable. Current players only Merret I trust to generally make good decisions… oh and 9 gamer Nick Martin.

    Opinion My all time favourites

Agree he looks promising… a bit laconic but maybe just him. Would love to see a Mitch Robinson when he was with Carlton type as a defender. Just a young, raw, aggressive dude who opponents look over their shoulder for… but I guess that’s a discussion for another day. Reid def looks promising 👍🏻

    Opinion My all time favourites

Boris stiff to be out of my top ten, understand why others would have him in. His 93 prelim game was the stuff of legends!!! And for some reason I always remember a 65 meter torp goal he kicked against Fitzroy in Tassie. And of course his 8 goal game against the cats in centenary game. Freak!!!

    Opinion My all time favourites

Martin is the ONLY positive out of this season. He looks like he could be a real jet. If he makes my top ten watchable in 10 years time I think we will all be happy😬😬

    Opinion My all time favourites

I was so young in the 83-86 era I don’t remember much. I was at the 85 gf and remember daisy williams doing his thing… but the Wanganeen interview just reminded me how much I loved him when I was only 14-15.

    Opinion My all time favourites

Not a regular poster but I just watched a replay of my all time favourite bomber on Open Mike…and with all the negative stuff about our club I just felt the need to express some happy memories. I’m 44 years old and my top ten to watch in MY lifetime are as follows: Gavin Wanganeen James Hird...

AFL Autopsy ELIMINATION FINAL: Loss to the Dogs

Dont post a lot but often read the game day threads and other ones to get a gauge that others supporters are thinking how I am. Ive had a couple today so I wanted to give my thoughts on some topical players. Shiel - absolutely must reinvent himself as a footballer. Its a pretty awful thing to...

Fair point! Heppell was poor. Actually think he might be cooked. And yes Peter Wright is at Zac Clarke levels.

AFL Autopsy Rnd 5: Beaten by The Lions and [REDACTED]

I understand we will lose games to good sides. But I am so sick of games being over inside 20 mins. Happened tonight and against port and at least 7-8 times last year...makes for such a long four qtrs as a supporter😡

Traded #42: Adam Saad - Traded to Carlton for pick 8 (with some junk picks)

Lots of people debating the worth of Saad re picks etc...I honestly don’t care anymore... for EFC it just says so much which all supporters know. We’re not a good football club. I was so jealous watching the sides on the weekend play in those epic finals😞. Saad should go as he has well and truly...

    Can you teach football IQ??

absolutely no doubt experience is a factor! I can for sure give the guys who have played less than 30 odd games a pass. And it doesn't help(in the case of my team) when you have far more experienced players calling for or demanding the ball when they should not be. But I see weekly guys who have...

    Can you teach football IQ??

Watching my side meander through season after season of mediocrity I see the same mistakes from different players every year. Bad, no... appalling decisions with ball in hand. From a personal perspective I watched Dustin Fletcher's entire career and he was an elite decision maker(apart from many...

Pretty much every skill execution and decision our players make is faulty.

AFL Player # 4: Kyle Langford

Happy to say I have plenty of egg on my face when I repeatedly said Langford was no good(albeit 2 years ago). I now feel a sense of relief when he has ball in hand or is near a contest as he just keeps getting the job done. Well done Kyle!!
