Toot, toot all aboard the Scrimmers Train 2025 edition!
Very much enjoying the Scrimmers love so far, he really should have probably been an AA (at very least a squad inclusion) in 2024 he was that good last year.
Nice list 👍
I like your Scrimshaw analysis. As good as he was playing as our main KPD last year, being able to free him up to be more attacking will be great for the side (he’s such a good user of the ball of half back).
Shammy, McCabe and CJ I like it 👍
Young Seamus had a down year in 2024 but geez he showed a fair bit in 2023. Be great to see him back to his best off half back (he will find it hard to crack a spot in our loaded backline though).
First time at posting a thread so go easy on this old campaigner 😄
I thought it would be interesting if we picked five players we think are going to have big years in 2025. They can be established players or rookies, just pick five players from the list at your discretion and state why you are...
Ginni is looking in absolute peak condition.
I'm predicting a very big year for Jack, combine his natural talent with that new body and the sky is the limit.
No offence to Punky who has been a star for our club but at this stage of their careers it's pretty obvious Wiz is picked over Punky every day of the week (nothing to do with development the Wiz is just better).
I think this year there is no difference between any of the players on the list. Every player will be picked purely on form/team balance, their age won't be a factor at all.
Of course that also means that players like Gunners and Bruest won't be picked based on past reputation, they will have...
How fun is it going to be to watch The Wizard in 2025?
He's already a drawcard, we all love him and he will drive opposition fans totally bonkers with his antics.
He looks noticeably bigger this off season as well, the guy is just a ball of muscle like a staffy terrier.
CJs big issue is that last year he regressed (I think that is fair when comparing his output to his early years) whilst other players such as Finn and Harry improved.
As you say in the AFL if you don't improve you get left behind pretty quick (look at how quickly DGB got overtaken). It's a...
Looks good 👍
I think our starting 23 is much more settled going into 2025 than it was going into 2024 where we had Chol, Ginni, Massimo, Meek all claim spots in the team.
For me the main watch will be to see if Scaife can claim a spot as our Key Forward. His pre season form will play a...
I remember a mark he took in one of the finals (against the Dogs I think) where he leaped and caught the ball full stretch just before it went over the boundary. It was like a slips catch crossed with a high jump, very impressive.
He's definitely more an athletic leaper than a banger in the...
Big, big opportunity for Jasper to play early and often now with Dear and Lewis both out for an extended period of time.
He's such a massive unit, I think he could be pretty useful if he can get his mobility up to even baseline AFL standard.
Realistically we don't have many other options...
Yes Impeys role as a medium, attacking defender off half back would suit CJ perfectly. Just attack the ball in the air and run like hell off half back.
As you say though Impey has had a career best year so it will be difficult for CJ to replace him in the short term.
He won’t make it as an AFL winger averaging 11 touches a game no matter how good his defensive running is.
Playing wing requires an innate understanding of the flow of a game which I don’t think is CJs strong suit. It’s why someone like Harry O can be an effective winger even though he’s not...
Whatever happens with CJ next year I do know that Sam Mitchell for all his positive outlook and players skills is at heart still one hard nosed SOB who will make the hard call when required in order to win a game of footy. And that would include not picking one of his favourites in CJ if he's...
Something else I noticed from those highlights is that he seems to be a natural full forward (in a rovers body).
He really times his leads very well and jumps and hit the ball at top speed.
CJ has the tools but I don’t think he will be given the same leeway again next year with the amount of depth we have now. Harry M for one who is a more than handy winger who can step in and play that role very well.
Essentially the ball is in CJs court, he’s at the age now where he really...
I’m a big fan of CJ but he’s going to have to earn his spot next year.
I still don’t think he is a winger, he looked lost at sea last year playing that role & couldn't get near the ball.
For me he’s a half back dasher pure and simple but he will be fighting quite a few for that role (Impey...
Sic will absolutely destroy the third best forward.
Id even give the third best forward to Scrimmers and give Sic the fourth best forward, he will go to a new level I reckon if that is plan for The Blonde Prince.
I have Gibbo up there with Sicily as the ultimate two way defensive / offensive mid sized backman. Those two are the only back men I've ever seen who are/were able to nullify the oppositions key forward whilst also getting 25+ possessions and 15 marks.
Lake was pretty good for us though...
Bring an ex chemist I also had strong correlation in feelings with Walt in how shoddily scientists are treated and underpaid (especially in Australia).
I'm not saying I agree with what he did but I can understand how he got there.
Look I admit I have a degree in Industrial Chemistry (all of which I have long since forgotten) and I may or may not have made some imitation Whizz Fizz as a youth but that's where the similarity starts and ends 😜
God I wish I was as smart as Walter White 😂
Great show, best ever drama IMHO.
Do we have a unit of measurement for the Schoey Pre Season Buffness indicator?
For instance I rate Newk a solid 0.9 on the Schoenmakers scale this pre season whilst Harry M is probably 0.3 (sorry Harry but I needed a reference point).
