Spot on. I don't think many would dispute the fact Zuthrie was better than Stewart down back in 2024. No one would've believed that was possible only a few years back.
I’m still backing Clark in, but I’m worried he might not have the work ethic. Just saw a couple things on the socials this offseason that made me think maybe footy’s not his #1 priority. To be clear, nothing major, just a few hints here and there juxtaposed against the content of guys like Neale...
Interesting to see Charlie McCartin, the middle brother of Paddy and Tom, on that list. Some more info about him: https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/09/24/hes-a-ripper-former-no-1-pick-comments-on-draft-potential-of-younger-brother
The OP said that McClure said "now McClure is saying "OH YEAH BUT WHAT I MEANT WAS HARLEY WILL EVENTUALLY LEAVE". He never said that's what he originally meant, he was simply making a secondary prediction.
Spot on, and this is why guys like Brad Close go unappreciated by fans, because he just does what he needs to - sees and option and hits it. He might not break tackles, baulk the opponent, or go on a dashing run but he always uses it well and swiftly.
He's going to be a very good player, but he's far from ready. Still needs to add a lot of size to be a KPD at AFL level.
The club typically gives it's promising talls (SDK, Neale) a three-year apprenticeship in the twos before they get a decent run in the seniors.
Not saying you're wrong, but since 2015 draft (past 10 years) we've only really had 1 player from each draft hit 50 games. The exception being 2016 when we took Stewart, J.Henry, Parfitt and Z.Guthrie. It's probably unlikely that we buck that trend, especially in a year where we had a very poor...
That’s wishful thinking but there’s no evidence to suggest Stanley is just a back up. As of the PF he was our first choice behind Conway. SDK won’t go ahead of him until either SDK is training as a ruckman and improving his ruck craft, or Stanley breaks down.
Rumour is we were keen on Jordan Dawson (also a Sturt boy) with our pick 59 back in 2015 before Sydney took him at 56. We ended up taking Ryan Gardner.
