I’m not sure how Young is listed as a slider at pick 7, particularly given he was taken ahead of Serong. Also plenty of very good players taken after him. He was selected right where Twomey expected in his last phantom draft so any sliding happened before the actual draft

I must admit I’ve never seen him play but looking at those highlights of Gerrynn, I would have taken him a 200cm ruckman that runs and kicks like a mid and unlike most of his contemporaries he already has a decent build at 18, not a stick

I think most people agree coming into this draft that we should target a small forward with our first pick and hence all the focus has been on Berry and Hotton. But looking at both of them they are definitely not your typical small forward (like a Kossie, Watson, Hill etc) they are both more...
Your the dim one everyone one can trade 2 years in advance but having current year selections over a draft pick two years out who won’t impact until 3 years out is worth a lot less than a current year pick. Just because I believe WC having two picks next year over our one, gives them more chance...
Players only nominate after their managers make sure the club can deliver on salary and draft capital. Cerra was a classic example of that as he couldn’t get to his first preference, he had to choose someone else as his preference didn’t have the draft capital. Hopefully we will have enough but...
FFS how does Warner being out of contract change how much trade capital we can offer vs what the Eagles can offer. Sure being out of contract means he will probably go for less but it doesn’t give us an advantage over WC. Anyone who thinks a player doesn’t chose a club before his manager has...
You just proved my point. The reason there was no chat about Bolton to WC is because they didn’t have the trade capital to do it. I agree all the chat has been Warner to Freo but you just watch how that changes if WC get an extra F1st in the Barass trade and we don’t trade for a future first as...
What if he says just get me back to WA. People who think WC possibly having better draft picks than us next year doesn’t matter are delusional

It may not be what Chad wants, it may be what the Swans want and if we have 2 first rounders next year that gives us a leg up on WC.

I think if we are serious about getting Warner we need to trade a pick this year for an extra first rounder next year. Otherwise the Eagles could offer their first rounder and a F1 which would be better than ours

I think we have to get something paid. Clubs must play 95% of their cap and with Rioli, Martin, Reiwold, Cotchin, Baker, Bolton, Grimes and Graham all leaving in the last 2 years, who else other than Hopper and Taranto do they have to pay

Nothing new in this but looking at what we will do in trade period. Once we know Kosi is definitely off the table I reckon we will trade pick 10 and 18 for Bolton and hopefully Richmond will pay half his salary. Then we will trade pick 11 for Melbourne’s Future first and this years pick 28. That...
I don’t think our picks sliding a few places in this draft is a big issue. Everyone knows it’s very deep and even. Cal Twomey said the other day there will be guys taken at pick 40 who in previous drafts would have been pick 20

If we miss on Pickett I’m hoping it’s because we have a cast iron guarantee from Chad that he will join us next year and we are using this years draft capital to trade in a F1st

I think it depends on how much of Bolton’s salary we get Richmond to pay. Given every club has to spend a minimum of 95% of their salary cap and with the loss of Rioli, Bolton, Baker and Martin, Richmond has no one to spend it on, they may be prepared to pay a huge chunk of Bolton’s contract. If...
Corey has been injured and I didn’t say Corey had shown as much as Chad, I said “Chad hadn’t shown a lot” to tell us he would be as good as he is now. I’m not really interested in your petty BS I’m just saying from what I’ve seen I think he will be ok.

I agree I think Sheldrick has shown much more than Corey but you are being a bit harsh on Corey. After two seasons Chad hadn’t shown a lot either, so I think it’s bit early to be definitive

Hopefully the fact that we have got so many players on long term multiple year contracts means we paid them a little less but gave them better security with tenure

From what I’ve seen I think Corey and Sheldrick have both shown they can get there, just need opportunities so maybe both are gettable for right club if they don’t play a lot more next year
