Has anyone been announced to take over from Bernie as yet, or has anyone heard any whispers? There's a bloke who moved to Cairns from Vic not too long ago who would be an absolute monty to take on the role. Big bloke who knows a bit about the game. Has also experienced premiership success before.
I'm gonna have to pull rank here champ. Just looking at our respective Join Dates and BigFooty Member Vs Newbie status, I'll assume The Cat #1 ranking for now.
I follow Seymour in the GVFL and usually look at that thread, but just happened to see your name bob up on the screen...
What the? I knew I should have taken a copyright out on my user name!
Hope you're not posting crap #2 Cat, coz everything I put on here is fact and I'd hate to get a bad reputation as a result of something you've posted.
Cheers :thumbsu:
As a player, Gilliland would be a great acquisition to any club. Don't know if he's up to coaching, but players of his calibre don't come along too often so my theory would be get him signed up first, and hope he can coach after that. Good luck to him :thumbsu:
My guess on the port player...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Here's a great story that someone from Shepp might be able to shed some further light on relating to the Bears V Swans game at the weekend.
I'm told that the siren accidentally sounded 5 minutes into the first quarter during the senior game at Deakin on the weekend...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Joey might lack pace and is getting a bit long in the tooth, but he still finds the pill very regularly and uses it well. His biggest problem is his mouth. Got called to the 'sin bin' by Steve again on the weekend for giving away a 50m penalty. Seems to do that...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Anyone get to the Euroa Vs Shepp Bears game on Saturday?
Heard from a mate that the umpiring was absolutely disgraceful, with 50 metre penalties being dished out more often than franga's coming out of a vending machine at a sex addicts convention. Believe the 2...
Re: Official GVFL thread
With Dion now gone, that will leave about 6 guys in the GV who would like to knock Bernie's head off. (I think 2 of those 6 play for Seymour).
Chris Parker was a very good player, and a ripper bloke. Heard he was still running around in their two's a couple of years ago, and actually got called up for a few senior games.
How closely do you follow Sebas ringo1? Please don't tell me Parks is still having a kick?
YCW Eagles - Loddon Valley Football League. Doesn't relate to their footy exploits too much, but more about getting on the gas.

Probably best we don't start talking about Robbie Walker as we'll kill this thread. Someone out there will know the exact number of league medals, B&F's, inter-league appearances etc. He wouldn't have too many peers.
In fact, Walker should have his own thread titled "Best Player in Country...

Re: Official GVFL thread
Sutherland was involved in a late hit on Jeremy O'Brien in the Swans Vs Bears game in round 2. The short version of the story is that O'Brien was laying on the ground after diving into a scrimage to get the ball, and Sutherland dropped his knee into Jezza's back...
Re: Official GVFL thread
My tip is Jarrod Sutherland. Very late clash with Jeremy O'Brien last weekend that has left the poor bugger with a punctured lung.
I'm tipping with Jezza in hospital recovering, Eric Bottom has had to pick up the slack in the GVFL office. He's probably got the sulks...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Been to see a few games over the last year or so No Nuts, and its a favourite line of Steve Daniels, so thought I'd throw it in. Anyway, the point I was making is that Benalla are a very good side and have a big height advantage IMO. Not too many weaknesses from what...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Yeah good call about Benalla McDuff. Benalla are a very good side and also very tall. Aside from Porter, I think Van Sheik was also a handful in terms of his height and looked to move very well. Don't know who Seymour will run against those two big guys, but I reckon...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Wondering if there were any injuries to report from the weekends practice matches. Heard that one of Tat's new recruits may have got a punctured lung, but wasn't given any names. Maybe tige19 could clarify?
Re: Official GVFL thread
Yeah - my mistake! Apologies to bomberboy 19 for posting crap info mate. Although looking back at what ORANGE BOY knows about him, I wasn't far off the mark (ie - big boy who will be a good player in the Murray League and brother of their new coach). Not a bad effort...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Hampshire played with Shepp Bears last year as their no. 2 ruckman, usually changing off the bench or sometimes in a forward pocket. He is a very big unit and would have the edge on most ruckmen in the Murray League. Will be a very good signing for Congupna if your mail...
Re: Official GVFL thread
No update on Marcus Webb for you Doona2 as I didnt see the game, but was told Wang Rovers beat Shepp in both seniors and reserves. Seniors went down by about 10 goals and seconds got done by about 13 goals.
Not sure how strong Rovers will be this year, but they...
I'm only going from memory here slim18, but am reasonably certain he did win the BDFL league medal, and I think Travvy is on the money about missing out on the finals due to injury in the same year.
Travvy - when you say 'last year', are you referring to 2004. I had a suspicion he won the...
Well written FTB, and I would find it hard to believe there could possibly be another player out there with these credentials.
Steven Ash (Shepparton) was also a very good player. Don't have exact stats but we're talking a couple of league medals, a handful of B&F's, regular inter-league rep...
Re: Official GVFL thread
Was at the game Bystander, but only had Pilling penciled in for one. Could have missed one though as I had a few trips to the bar and the loo.
Not sure I agree with you about their onballers not kicking goals. Brendan Liddell is always good for a couple, so is...
Re: Official GVFL thread
What game were you watching No Heart? Gordon kicked 8 and Saad kicked 4. The only other multiple goal scorer was Dom Russo who only played about one and a half qtrs - he kicked 2.
Grandale - Heard that Rattray finished with 13-1 (13 cans / 1 spew).
Jazzy - Get on...
Re: Official GVFL thread
LOL Fish8. Who is going to run the bar now that Tractor is pulling the boots back on again? I bet he's burning the track up! :thumbsu:
Sounds like he might see a bit more game time this year. I've been told you guys have a senior playing list of about 33...
You're being too modest there Grandale. I've heard you are a pretty good kick - except for a game at Mansfield last year where you sprayed them all over the place!
