Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn, Chad Wingard. 200 games! Announces retirement (2 Sept 2024)

We didnt pay overs, as much as i enjoyed watching ryan play, Chad is exactly what we were missing this year to go to the next level. We needed extra fire power/flare in the forward line as well as the extra pace and clearance in the middle when mitchell and jags were shut down, and the chad is...

Prediction Hypothetical trades, other clubs moves, draft smokies, salary guesswork and whatever else thread

I didnt think weller would go to gold coast for pick 2, you dont know what they would do. Remember they have pick 2 this year as well which it looks like lukosius. Roughie mentoring the forwards and shiels in the guts, maybe just maybe. But hey this is a hypothetical thread after all.

Prediction Hypothetical trades, other clubs moves, draft smokies, salary guesswork and whatever else thread

Just a suggestion, If we were to get pick 3 from gold coast, we would have to give up something decent. I would let roughie and shiels go for 3. I love what shiels has done for us, but i think we can cover his position with worps howe, cousins and scully potentially coming in. Hendo is going...

List Mgmt. Hawthorn Trade and FA news discussion NO OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS

Finlayson and Scrimshaw i would be happy with that if thats the only trades we do. It frees up possibly JS and Burton forward. I would love Chad, but for only 800k and would use him in the middle 60% of the time as we need pace from stoppages and can play well there. I think Moore will be...

    Game Day 2018 1st Semi final: Hawthorn v Melbourne, 14 September 2018, 7.50pm @ MCG

Melbourne have taken their opportunities, we havent, and the umpires have gave us the frees in our back half, where melbournes frees have been in the forward half. Some really poor decisions by the umps, but we all expected it.

    Preview 2018 1st Semi Final: Hawthorn v Melbourne, 14 September 2018, 7.50pm @ MCG

Since losing to the lions for the second time, we played miles and brand in every game and i thought our backline looked pretty settled and deserved a shot a the Tigers. I think those 2 are unlucky not to get picked for the melbourne game. I think Clarko is picking duryea so we can increase...

Autopsy 2018 1st Qualifying Final: Richmond defeats Hawthorn

Jags was all class tonight, attacked the ball well and was smooth with his ball movement. I didnt see alot of clean footy and we put ourselves under more pressure then we needed to by dropping way too many marks and handballs and not hitting our targets. I know the conditions were sloppy, but...

    Prediction Roughead to leave Hawthorn?

I think he will stay, yes he has lost some leg speed and ability to jump, but he hasnt lost his composure with hands or decision making and is contesting well as the second ruck also. Whether he does stay or go i think we will have a new captain next year as i think next year will be his last...
  9. The Bearded Hawk

Prediction Hypothetical trades, other clubs moves, draft smokies, salary guesswork and whatever else thread

I think we have to offer more than that, maybe duryea.

Cegs doesnt offer more value than sheil, but Gws need cap space, they need a good quality ruck, and i think Cegs and a first rounder is too much with us paying part of his salary. I think we can live without having Cegs to get sheil.

Ceglar and our first for shiels and their 2nd sounds fairer. They need Cegs more than we need Sheils and we finds players in the later rounds. Pitto not great but good for cover until we find a replacement for Big Boy. Ceglar 28 next year and theres no guarantee that Ceglars injuries wont catch...

Everyone, which is probably part of the problem, sounds like players are being paid to stay rather than baesd on performance.

    Preview 2018 1st Qualifying Final: Richmond v Hawthorn, 6 September 2018, 7.20pm @ MCG

Sis will take mirras spot in the back if right, we need his intercept marking there against richmonds small forward line and his precise field kicking to get over richmonds midfield that sets up so well. Frawley may come in for Brand too. If sis doesnt play, i think maybe frawley comes in, play...

    Preview 2018 1st Qualifying Final: Richmond v Hawthorn, 6 September 2018, 7.20pm @ MCG

Birchall an attacking defender, attacks the ball runs and creates space and kicks long and well, he is not a lock down defender which what i was trying to say, sorry poor choice of words on my part. Both those videos are of birchall attacking the ball and taking the man out in the process. I...

    Preview 2018 1st Qualifying Final: Richmond v Hawthorn, 6 September 2018, 7.20pm @ MCG

Birchall wont play this year unless miles is injured or we drop him which i dont think we will. Both run and drive the ball long, but both also dont have much of a defensive side so i can see us only playing one of these in the back 6. Unless Birchall is put on a wing maybe.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn Pick 44: Blake Hardwick, re-signs for 5 years!

Hardwick and Stratts Mullet Fusion going on, they take each others game to another level by combining their mullet strength! Both have been huge for us.

    Preview 2018 1st Qualifying Final: Richmond v Hawthorn, 6 September 2018, 7.20pm @ MCG

If we play 2 rucks it will be because clarko will be trying to force Richmond to play one extra big to slow their run. But i dont think hardwick will bite. He will back his teams pace and pressure to win and their midfield will just assume the loss in the ruck and play in front. And i think...

True but thats the mindset you want, take the game on, if you get tackled so be it, hold the player for as long as you can whilst we setup defensively. Like i said he is not quick, but passionate, smart and good with his hands and has the mongrol in him. I would take the 2 holding the ball...

I did when i mentioned quality youth, worps isnt quick with legs, but damm is he quick with his smart decision and a beast of a tackler. I have seen enough to know he is a future captain. Luv what he does.

I would take Lynch only if he wants us, but for 900k no more. Gaff, 800k no more, shiel probably about 800k as well. I think we need run maybe one quality outside mid so Gaff or Sheil not both. The injection of morrison , nash, omeara and impy has filled that shortage. It would be nice to have a...

    Preview 2018 1st Qualifying Final: Richmond v Hawthorn, 6 September 2018, 7.20pm @ MCG

I think Miles will play for that run and side step, mirra will come out for sis if fit, i dont think ceglar will play. Nanks is not that tall, and roughie bodys up well in the ruck to give a chop out. Cegs not quick enough to play forward against richmond. I actually think we will play Brand...
