All clubs are pretty much required to spend close to 90% of their cap, so with long term deals it allows to you spread the total cost in different ways over the period.
The Williams & McGovern and Saad deals were done a very long time ago, they may well have been front ended deals.
Pretty...
Pretty sure Bailey Smith & Cameron and Dangerfield have come to the Cats on large deals not sure that logic applies, Williams is at the end of his long term deal, we let some players go this year & drafted kids so our cap is less of a issue than is being put forward.
Absolutely spot on, TDK is ready to go to the next level and is a key piece of us challenging in the next few years, sure he will be offered significantly more at other clubs, but we need to back him in and have a strong offer on the table, losing him would set us back in a major way, our drop...
I don't believe your commentary/interpretation is accurate at all.
Many more factors that purely the financial piece he will be very well rewarded in his next contract.
Durdin has been in the system a long period, again he is injury prone and has done very little at senior level.
Time to move on and give another player who are both younger the opportunity.
lt makes no sense we let more talented injury prone players go and keep Durdin very inconsistent approach.
Cerra is a proven talent, Durdin is not.
How many games he has played, a couple of games in 2.5 years, the two Ex Hawthorn players are younger and deserve another opportunity.
Young is ahead of Durdin so makes sense to give one of the other two boys the opportunity.
Not sure why Durdin is any different to the other consistently injured players we let go.
Time to move on from Durdin and give someone else a opportunity, unlikely at this stage of his career that is going to change relating to injury and games played at senior level.
Agree with this, don't see any concerns with our cap, and part of our strategy the last two years is to keep our Tier 1 players.
TDK will be priority signing given the next few years we are good shape to be in mix to challenge, $ will not be the sole focus, if it was he probably would have gone...
TDK showed his capabilities last year before injury, he is about to hit his prime and is a key part of any premiership challenge.
He will be well compensated to stay.
Okeefe is promising but is another 2-3 years from a senior level ruckman.
No saying there is but recruitment is such a subjective topic, the direction Austin took was very clearly based on the belief that the top end of the draft was clearly better than the next level, hence why most people rated pretty much the same 1st 6 but in a different order.
l believe you are missing the point in some areas, add a fit Cerra & Walsh to our midfield and the addition of Smith & possibly growth in Wilson we are in good shape in this area.
Austin has clearly gone for quality, he believes Smith is a geninue A grade player for a long period, finding it...
Gee not sure you have been understanding Austin's objective here, clearly he rated the top end of the draft highly hence the reason to trade up, all the top 5 picks are exceptional talents better than the next tier.
Despite some negativity Austin continues to do a pretty sound job with...
Austin had clearly made the decision to trade 12 & 14 for 3 knowing very well there would be three very good options at that pick, so by trading down would possibly only leave 1 left at 6-7 and losing control of who you are actually select, so really defeats his original intention of accessing...
Saints & Melbourne are in a excellent spot to get two quality kids, don't see them trading up for one pick vs two.
Austin has done firstly all the work on the trades to get to pick 3 and now all the due diligence on 4-5 players.
He didn't trade up for one player, he knew he would have a choice...
l believe there is zero chance we are trading down, it would make absolutely no sense when we had 12 & 14, we have traded up to get a quality player at 3, going to be 2-3 good options available.
Alot of conflicting stories around, but suspect if we meet Draper last Friday he is very much in the mix which he should.
Although l am big Langford fan, suspect Draper is a better fit for us right now.
l don't believe Langford will go until Melbourne's pick.
Pretty sure Draper is a pure mid, pretty much along the same lines as Sam Walsh, does not look to be mix of both, Lalor & Langford are definitely, Fos certainly can but don't see him having the weapons of the other two as a half forward
l believe it is a bit of a stretch comparing/more naturally gifted compared to Daicos who Is already top 5 in the comp and Sheezel, both were always going to be elite players.
Have to agree on your analysis here, Finn's form was not great in 24, so his selection would be based on prior year performance.
Definitely would have Smith/Draper and Langford ahead of Fos, Hope Austin gets this one right.
