No doubt Australia played well in the field. But India looked very timid after Rohit got out. Australia played better cricket and coped much better with the pressure.
All of the spontaneity has been sapped out of sport. Even trophy presentations are soulless and corporate. The 1999 wins at Edgbaston and then Lord's had a natural explosion of joy about them.
Well this is it. If people are humble and classy with me then I reciprocate. If not, they get it both barrels. What you tend to find is that all fanbases have a bit of both.

I love posting on this thread but I'm done for the next hour or so. Time to give the television my undivided attention and savour these wonderful moments.
I don't mind saying India were the best team in this tournament. I don't mind saying it's easier to bat now than during the day. Both are true. But what's more true than both of those is that Australia are the World Cup winners. Now that is all that matters :)
I'll say it again - inspired decision by Cummins. For a year that started with so much difficulty for him personally, he's on the cusp of completing a magnificent WTC, Ashes, WC treble.
If we'd have beaten RSA, we'd have played NZ on a tricky wicket at Old Trafford. I fancy we'd have won that and then won the final at Lord's on that 240 wicket. All hypothetical, of course.
That's what pissed me off about 2019. If we'd have beaten South Africa in the last group game, we'd have likely gone on to win that World Cup. As it was, we ended up playing England on a road at Edgbaston in the semi...
