A positive is the VAFA today stating they will "Develop an Umpire Appointment Policy across April which will be shared with all clubs that addresses the current imbalance of women's football allocations "
Am I misunderstanding something?
For Premier Mens of a total required Field Umpires of 30 the VAFA is allocating 30 ie 100%
For Premier Womens of a total required Field Umpires of 24 the VAFA is allocating 5 ie 21%
For Divisional Mens of a total required Field Umpires of 36 the VAFA is...
Don't see how could be payout of Annual Leave or Long Service Leave, as these would have been provisioned for. Not sure what it could be for? Golden Handshake or Retrenchement or ?
Has there actually been an Association Meeting of Presidents this year? Given the VAFA have postponed indefinitely it seems to me clubs are missing out on hearing the issues other clubs are facing and how they are dealing with them.
Would seem to be a pretty simple requirement that if you want to have a Women's team that you need to have it visible on ClubFinder. At least as important as some other things that clubs get fined for
It's impossible to say if 25% is reasonable or not with the VAFA not releasing any of their financial modeling. If I understand correctly they have only modeled to end September, which is then followed by almost 6 months of no revenue the VAFA. One this we can say for sure is if they had gone...
My experience is that the "find a club" works for clubs who have updated their details. Many clubs haven't gone into the system and updated that they have a women team, so they don't turn up in a search
Actually realized is just VAFA which is great (although it is interesting to also look at where other Leagues overlap with VAFA)
You had all clubs I had on my list plus 2 I had missed so thanks!
Different people see value in different things so whilst I'm not big on VAFA Social Media I know may be highly valued by others.
I'd like to hear more on what the VAFA is doing and how clubs are doing but that would probably be impossible for Nick to cover given how little information "they"...
Looks good around my inner north area. This would be an awesome resource - is it available somewhere else other than by the link?
Do you have (or have you considered) being able to show by League?
Went to my first AFL Grand Final Symposium this morning on the topic “Coaching Female Footballers – Injury Prevention & Sustainable Development”.
Must give credit to the AFL for putting this on free to the general public.
All speakers were interesting, but personally valued Brooke Patterson &...
Thanks! I will look through them.
At first glance most content seems to be at the Elite end ie AFLW, VFLW, etc.
My main interest is at the "grassroots" level where >80% of women play, and the issues faced by these players.
I will look further and see what I can find, but any further advice welcome!
I'm new to BigFooty so perhaps someone can educate me?
The VAFA Board has a discussion for each Men's Division, and then this General Discussion.
Is there a reason why there isn't a Women's Discussion? I created one recently before realizing that there are a number of Women's specific topics...
I agree the umpires should umpire women's games to the "letter of the law". What I hear though is that whilst umpires are directed to do so, and to in fact umpire women's games the same as men's, that the actual outcome is that umpires do umpire them differently.
Agree?
Any ideas why?
I personally don't mind paying if I get delivered a good product. What I got was lack of parking, mud and no stands. It's a pity when many players have family coming to see them for the first time and they experience the worst spectator conditions of the year. Also was especially difficult for...
Our women's team has a number of players that work shifts (eg nurses). They can change their shifts fairly easily if they know a week or 2 in advance. Was very disappointing to find out that the VAFA had made the decision to have finals on a Sunday about a month before the first week of finals...
