According to the North board (maybe they are just bitter though), probably chuck a sickie so he didn't have to attended that well documented young player team bonding event. That was when Port and Adelaide thought he was very gettable.
He seems to place individual accolade over team success and probably what Hinkley sold him on after Aliir Aliir and Rozee recently got AA awards and Wines winning the Brownlow. Will definitely be interesting how he gets along with Rozee and Butters, different individual reacts differently to...
I didn't see the Bulldogs get a 1st rounder for Treloar's salary dump but then Fremantle got good return for Brodie last year, I guess it's just a GC "thing" which the AFL should have stopped last year.......
To be fair, they are paying for 2 years' worth of an A grader's salary (provided they are taking the entire/majority of them) and Geelong was keen on Bowes even before pick 7 become the sweetener so all they probably did was offer him a lot less for the remaining years to average out the...
I think the poster mean they won based on the trade value right now but if Port's season next year is where Hinkley is finally sacked halfway and the young players apparently do like him which will cause their season to derail further then it will be 2 pick 1 for pick 2, 3, 8 and 4.
I think they will just make the 8 if their experience players stay healthy but you are correct in that I can't see them contending for the premiership as their backline is still very weak for the quality side, they will get enough win against the lesser sides aided by a weaker fixture.
Unless their core experience players all struggle and all have a foot in retirement, they have a list to finish above the Saints and Richmond so worst they will finish is just outside the 8.
Interesting, going down the Bulldogs strategy with a strong midfield, decent tall forward line (Bulldogs have a better small forwards) and weak backline. Bulldogs ruck is stronger.
Top 5 are still quality though like any other year, especially if you have pick 2. Stupid for us to trade it out and rarely are they unless it for overs.
Agree, this makes more sense as why you would send a trade to get the AFL tick when deals can't be done over the weekend anyway? Port sent an approval to the AFL for an exemption and that was all. Why would we trade pick 2 for 8 and 12 when we knock back Port's pick 8 and future 1st rounder only...
In this situation they are settling for them, they didn't actively chase them so are in no obligation to have to pay overs them despite them being contracted.
Then Port shouldn't have made the commitment to him after initially chasing Dunkley and then Graham which they would have been able to facilitate with the picks they had. They need to do what the Hawks did with Burton when the Hawks committed late in trading for Wingard.
