Yes but everyone in the squad along with Petch will have to learn that new system from scratch. At a new club with an already developed and implemented system they would have identified Petch as a player they can plug into that system that utilises his strengths then Petch can just play his...

Petch needs a fresh start in a different system that utilises his speed and overhead marking. With our list he’ll just float along next year without elevating his game nor being disastrously shit that would make his delisting a foregone conclusion. Straight swap for Garcia or if not then...

Had an issue that wasn’t football related that meant he couldn’t get on the park. Would be a fantastic fit at WCE, the Bulldogs are going after him too.

Technically he is yes but I believe a one year contract extension at Freo is as good as done.

No. But I’d be offering OOC Max Knobel and Nathan O’Driscoll contracts they can’t say no to.

Of course we can hold Barrass to his contract. We can also field offers from nine other Victorian clubs. It is up to the Hawks to make an offer we deem good enough to release Barrass from the remaining three years of his contract. It’s that simple.

Ralph: “both sides (Eagles and Hawks) have leverage. F**king idiot. At least Clark pretends to be objective. Darling and the 200k salary to North for pick 40. Sounds like Parker to Norf is also on the cards. They may also ask for pick 40 but maybe prefer future selections for their NGA next year.

I actually think both of those trades are about right, we’d look to contribute some salary too. 👍

Agree with all this, although the Hawks have just made verbal commitments to Barrass and Battle for just under $2m a year for 5 years. There are two considerations that would make Barrass and salary more attractive. The first is Perryman, if he goes to the hawks on 850k or so a year would they...

If we’re splitting 3 with Richmond with 6 and 9 coming back as part of the deal getting us Lalor and Travaglia I’m ok with that. It would however make the Warner situation a little more complicated. Harley, Warner and Lalor are all such offensive mids which we would need to take into consideration.

It’s definitely not a salary dump. We’re going to struggle hugely to hit the minimum 95% cap spend next year.

IF Lalor is going to slide to 6, does that make a pick split more appealing?

My apologies AND ladies! Barrass has indicated that is his preference and WCE will try and facilitate that but the clubs remain some distance apart and he has some very good reasons for be playing in Victoria. Wouldn’t discount other Vic clubs just yet.

Obviously for Blues posters to speculate but I’d be very surprised if WCE agreed to a 3R from any club with two years remaining on his contract. Wouldn’t want to trade him but we also need draft capital that comes in before a Malakai Champion bid.

What would a trade look like for Ryan? Your 1R is too high but 2R is too low. You’re right about Petch. He needs to be plugged into a system where he can use his speed, he’s also deceptively tall and very good overhead. Again your 2R is probably too much. Carlton have asked about Barrass but...

Would rather our F2 than 23 but could be the difference between Hawks pulling the trigger and not pulling the trigger. Pick 30 sits comfortably in the 3rd tier of tier of draft talent IMO (but towards the back end), with 37 being roughly the start of the next group but there may still be some...

Commiserations fellas, injuries to key players at the wrong time of the season makes a finals run pretty challenging. How is the post season shaping up, from an outsider’s perspective it seems Berry and Travaglia would be good selections with pick 11? Have discussed it here briefly before but...

Great post, absolutely nailed it. As I said earlier R1 and F1 should now be the minimum. Agree with Wooshaaaa that we shouldn’t be doing any favours but if push comes to shove I’d be ok with giving our F3 back.

I think we’re already there to be honest. Top 5 league KPD contracted for 3 more years going to a contender on an easy 4 + 1 year deal on almost $1m a year. Even if the Hawks lose, 13 and F1 for Barrass and F3 is the minimum we should accept.

Warner is not a free agent next year. We’ve an excellent trade relationship with Sydney but it would take a very good offer to prize him out a year early as opposed to Seans just running down the clock and getting a very good return for him next year anyway.

Yep. I personally think they’ll have a crack at pick 2. 2 and 22 for 6 and 9. North get two of Smillie, Trainor, Shanahan and Armstrong. Far better for their list need than best available at pick 2 and 22.
