Yes, fire before gun shots for sure. My take on it was Mr V. shot the dogs in the laundry, then started the fire downstairs, then went upstairs and shot Mrs V & himself. Maybe they waited a while until the fire activity increased before doing the 'deed', hence the smoke in their lungs.
