Autopsy AFL 2024 Second Elimination Final - Dogs v Hawks Fri Sept 6th 7:40pm EST (MCG) - Teams in OP

It's a brave man who so confidently predicts outcomes this year. Meanwhile, I've been wondering for the past couple of weeks how it is that Port finished 2nd. I didn't rate them. That said, who knows what they'll dish up next Friday night. On form and other factors, Hawks should be favourites...

Coach Men's Senior Coach: Brad Scott

Apparently, Leppa is Head of Strategy/Forward Coach at Collingwood. I know his initial head coach stint didn't work out, but he will have learnt a lot since then. In addition to his work at Collingwood, he was an assistant at Richmond from 2016-2020. Could actually be a good get.

AFL Toast RND 21: We Gave Freo The Old Heave Ho!

Really pleased with the selections going into this one. In previous times, Scott would have gone with Goldstein. Bringing in Bryan instead is a massive tick - we need to games into this fella. Giving Roberts a game was also a massive tick, as was his decision to drop Wright and keep Caddy...

AFL Autopsy R20: Smashed by the Saints, and the season is cooked.

The problem with double standards is the message that it sends to the players. If you’re continually playing guys who clearly need to go back to the 2s while not rewarding those in the 2s for good form can only disillusion and alienate other team members.

AFL Autopsy R20: Smashed by the Saints, and the season is cooked.

A lot of folks say we don't have the cattle. I disagree with this. I think we have so many players who are down in form and confidence. Persisting with the current game plan and structures further erodes this. It seems Scott is losing the players - they look like they don’t believe. It’s a worry...

AFL Autopsy R20: Smashed by the Saints, and the season is cooked.

This. Our forward problems have not materialised overnight - this has been going on for weeks. Giving Wright games creates so many problems, I’m not going to start other than to say it limits us. Next, the one consistent trend this year (even in games we have won) is that the opposition backs...

    Preview Round 20 - Essendon VS St Kilda - Marvel - Saturday 27/7/24 - 4:35pm AEST

Couldn’t agree more. We are too tall and too predictable in the forward line. Not only would I not have brought Wright back in I would have brought Hind in at a minimum. I would also have dropped Stringer and put Cox in his place so that Jones and Duursma could patrol the wings. We lack fast...

    Coach Coach for 2025

It happened with Longmire at Sydney and Melbourne with Goodwin. Although Roos was the 2005 premiership coach, he laid the foundation for Longmire who won in 2012. Same with Goodwin. There are other examples, but they are 2 that spring to mind. It might be a good thing for you. If the incumbent...

    Preview Round 20 - Essendon VS St Kilda - Marvel - Saturday 27/7/24 - 4:35pm AEST

I'm right with you on this one. He was dropped not managed. Therefore, he hasn't done anything that warrants his inclusion. Same applies to Heppell. I agree that Goldy should be omitted but bringing Wright back has several issues 1. We are too tall again. 2. Our forward line becomes too...

Lol, as tempting as it is... Best wishes to you all. Cheers

    Game Day Collingwood vs Richmond - Sunday 28th July 2024 - 1:10pm

Excuse my intrusion. While it's true I barrack for Essendon, I have no animosity towards Collingwood - I have friends and family members who are Collingwood supporters. Meanwhile, your lads have been up for over 2.5 years now. That's a great effort for a couple of reasons: 1. In that time, you...

AFL Autopsy RND 19: Beaten by the Crom

On current form, we lose to saints then freo. The suns game is 50/50. You know what though? I reckon our lads will respond. I can’t remember the last time we played a four quarter game or thrashed an opposition. There’s no room for error. Let’s see what they serve up next weekend.

AFL Autopsy RND 19: Beaten by the Crom

I know folks have been pretty critical of Cox this year. Fair enough, he has had some shockers but, I put that in part down to what you say - he is without a position. Pretty hard for him to settle if he is in the wrong position. Oddly enough, he has drifted forward more recently and has bobbed...

AFL Autopsy RND 18: Loss Against The Demons

I look at our list and have a lot of questions about where we are at and where we are going. I expect us to improve quite a bit next year but, then again, so will other clubs. One of the things lacking this year has been the injection of youth. We tried Davey Jnr and Tsatas a few times and have...

Carlton 2024 - Are they being overestimated?

The good news for Carlton is that their problems can be fixed - it's not a personnel issue - just need to tweak a few things. For example, 39 points up against Giants late in first quarter, only to concede the 14 next 16 goals. What I couldn't understand there was that the Giants kicked 7 goals...

Has Competitive Equalisation created a need for wild-card finals?

I get the idea. I wouldn't say it doesn't have merit. Problem is, that if you introduce an extra two teams in order to reward them for solid seasons, where does it end? For example, our current ladder has 10th to 13th on the same number of wins, that is, 36 points. So, if all else being equal...
