LaggingBehind
Hopefully this link works okay: https://www.aflq.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/QFA-QFAW-Competition-Standards.pdf
If you can ignore that it is specifically regarding the QFA 2024 competitions, this document forms the basis for promotions and new clubs. In general, I reckon...
Connor7395 , lets see how we go here:
The following is a list of QAFL results that match the criteria (aggregate score of 300+ where both teams manage a score of 100+), in descending order:
344: 1987 Rd 9 – Southport 37-22-244 d Morningside 14-16-100 (Owen Park)
339: 1987 Rd 6 - Wilston Grange...
And whilst I'm at it, I had a look back at the "QAFL level" competition. I have found records of 25 games resulting in an aggregate score of 300 or more, where both teams amassed 100+ points.
This includes the two shown in the opening post. Do you want the others to add to the list?
Two...
In fact, having looked at the opening post again, I could offer these also:
All from SQAFA First Division
322 - 1987 Round 5: Aspley 32 - 12 - 204 d University of Qld 18 - 10 - 118
301 - 1982 Round 14: South Brisbane 24 - 16 - 160 d Aspley 21 - 15 - 141

I've been doing some work on the SQAFA (South Qld Australian Football Association) First Division results - and found this one to share:
1982 Round 8 - 367 : South Brisbane 39 - 12 - 246 d Acacia Ridge 18 - 13 - 121
Bear in mind that there are some scores I haven't been able to locate yet -...
All cool, LaggingBehind This is a discussion page, full of opinions, so if I write something that you think is ill-conceived, I'm happy for you (or anyone) to challenge me.
Overall, regarding Mt Gravatt (or any club doing it tough), I think it comes down to two main questions:
How much are...
Miller1971 Fair enough - although, minor events can have dramatic consequences.
If the Club was no longer competing at QAFL level, would there be the same level of commitment and enthusiasm permeating throughout all levels? I could not possibly determine that from the outside.
I guess what...
stuyd1 Just my opinion....
But I feel that after the disruption that occurred at Mt Gravatt after last season, there were efforts to "cobble" together a team this season.
If the club dropped down, whilst there will be a core of players who may remain loyal to the Club, there could potentially be...
With all due respect to everyone who has posted about Season 2025 so far, it appears that we are all in the dark regarding the League's strategy for next year. As far as we know, at this stage, it will be a 13-team competition.
That seems less than optimal to me.
Round 17 Results
The Matter that’s Stuff
The second half of last week’s round. Here are the QAFL Scorigami references for Round 17, plus other potentially useless scraps of local trivia:
Labrador 17-20-122 d Noosa 8-6-54
Played 7: Labrador 4 – Noosa 3 (2021-2024)
The result breaks a...
(I haven't seen any comment on this during the week.)
Given that the AFLQ announced a couple of days ago that Coorparoo will definitely be in the QAFL in 2025, given the absence of any further announcements, should we anticipate a 13-team competition next year?
Or does anyone have other news?
"Tradition V Trivia"
QFA Division 1 Edition (just one game):
University of Queensland V Springwood
Played 50: University 24 – Draw 1 – Springwood 25 (1982-1984, 1986-1987, 1991-2000, 2013, 2017-2024)
I have heard people suggest that these games are often close. Well, maybe not “always” – but...
"Tradition V Trivia" (for anyone interested):
A short one this week (just like the last):
Round 17
Labrador V Noosa
Played 6: Labrador 3 – Noosa 3 (2021-2024)
Last time they met (Round 7), Noosa won by 33 points.
In fact, Noosa is on a three-game winning streak, which means that Labrador won...
Yeah, smy1305 , there are some minor errors - but more important than anything else, the document now exists. And at 1,100 pages, what an ambitious scope it has for ALL of Queensland!
Murray and Greg did a fantastic job putting it all together.
On a side note, Murray was inducted into the Hall...
Round 16 Results
The Matter that’s Stuff
Half a round or a full round with only three games. Here are the QAFL Scorigami references for Round 16, plus other potentially useless scraps of local trivia:

Played 15: Morningside 5 – Aspley 10 (2009-2013, 2022-2024)
Last time they met (Round 10), Aspley got home by 21 points.
Their only clashes have been in the QAFL competitions...
I was asked a question today (which I was happy to receive): What is "More Of The Kangaroo"?
I've mentioned it a couple of times over the past few weeks. It is the history of Australian Football in Queensland from 1866 to 2016. Across 1,100 pages, it covers both the QAFL competition (about...
Round 15 Results
The Matter that’s Stuff
Some competitive games, and one particularly brutal result. Here are the QAFL Scorigami references for Round 15, plus other potentially useless scraps of local trivia:
Redland Victoria Point 13-13-91 d Wilston Grange 10-10-70
Played 6: Redland 6 –...
"Tradition V Trivia" (for anyone interested):
This is another one of those weeks where historically, at a QAFL level, not much has happened. This is reflected in this one scrap of trivia:
Of the six games this weekend, none have ever met in a QAFL Final. (Plenty at other levels though.)
Round...
Have to agree with the words of terrybull
By acknowledging the premiers of the previous VFA competition, it would present an element of gravitas or significance (perhaps even some prestige) to the fledgling VFL which had no real history of its own to report in the early years.
Once the VFL was...
Round 14 Results
The Matter that’s Stuff
Every Home team victorious this week: here are the QAFL Scorigami references for Round 14, plus other potentially useless scraps of local trivia:

Round 13 Results
The Matter that’s Stuff
In a week when the results gave no respect to your tipping (and mine too, of course), here are some more QAFL Scorigami references for Round 13, plus other potentially useless scraps of local trivia:
Broadbeach 10-16-76 d Noosa 6-7-43
Played 4...
