They had to come off, but its not a good look when its immediately after the umpires were approached (probably, but not necessarily, about the rain).
Still, England can't complain given the earlier delay.
Seven's own release says both broadcast and streaming. Whether that proves reliable is an open question.

First Test is basically head-to-head with the womens Ashes Test
(29 Jan to 2 Feb, 3:30 start from Galle : 30 Jan to 2 Feb, 2:30 start from MCG)
How Seven juggle both matches plus the inevitable news/home&away breaks could be interesting.
Guessing they reckoned on there being no other bidders and were holding on as late as possible, in order to drive the price down (a lowball value is more the SLC than no sale at all).
Seven then jumped in unexpectedly, actually having the game available to near 100% of 27m people rather than...
Not necessarily. NSW and Qld come under national rights, strengthening the weak areas with large populations and larger economies maximise those rights (over a long timeframe).
New Zealand rights are worth roughly zero. Strengthening that would probably lead to rights being worth roughly zero.
That's the exact opposite to when I was in Launceston. Two hours was psychologically more like five to mainlanders (and about 2.5 to 3 in petrol costs). You might do a day trip to Hobart, but not often (we did one or two a year for cricket).
Because nobody's commute was more than 20 minutes...
Two of those four were a goal or less, the third 13 points, North a total blowout being the exception to close games. And of the four opponents only GWS made finals.
That 100% record may not be as strong as it looks. Hawthorn would have been expected to win at the MCG, perhaps by more in some cases.
wgaf about the Champions Trophy? And if he needs a rest, sit out of the IPL and the international white ball guff.
The Sri Lanka series, WTC final, and West Indies series are the only meaningful series Australia plays before the next Ashes.
Horrible idea, every time its brought up its horrid.
It essentially condemns every other nation to irrelevance forever, as well as destroying the idea that Test cricket is the peak of the sport. It can't be the peak when its the second tier. It is bad enough as is for Afghanistan, Ireland and...
This is before the cost blowouts, and still excludes hundreds of millions related to the project (underground car park, scoreboards and replay screens, fitting out the food/drink stands which they are hoping will attract private funds, etc).
After the first Test resembling the 1990s India v Sri Lanka series where both teams would declare in the 600s, it did not seem worth trying to find any coverage.
I'm not so sure the pitches were that difficult overall. A bit of help for bowlers at times, but mostly nothing over the top.
Both sides came into the series with top sixes with zero in form players, and either good bowling line-ups or one or two utter stars. On the form lines coming in, these...
Starc is an interesting one. Would he actually play? Or would two quicks be Cummins and Boland? (edit: forgot Cummins probably won't be there for the first Test)
I think he goes on tour, a handy back-up. There is nothing to be gained from him playing BBL, and if Boland can't do much with the...
I admit to not recalling seeing his offies, but I believe "quite ineffective" is the general opinion. Not that yet another offie is really the fix with Lyon, Murphy (depending how many spinners play, he may only be Lyon's backup if two spinners are played) and part-time Head.
I would prefer the back-up who is more likely to succeed if called on. Handscomb is a decent player of spin (by Australian standards) even if he does still have his back-foot addiction against pace. I'm nor sure he is the one I would have picked, but it seems the way the selectors have gone and...
I don't see it either. Konstas is the shiny new toy, and for all his glaring issues is probably cemented in until the end of the WI series now.
Handscomb would only play if Head opens in place of Khawaja or Lab gets dropped. Realistically, he would be there are as injury cover only.
Well, that should be no shock. He's been a great player, but perhaps more in the Laxman, Ganguly generational great than Tendulkar all-time-world great. Or somewhere in between.
Jadeja doing the old bat in one hand, gloves in the other, when non-striker.
Which seems to rile people up more than it should. It just doesn't seem the ideal way to run imo.
