I agree..as a volunteer at Sandy the same thing would happen.
What worries me is if the Development League gets canned. What then happens to teams in an alignment? You would only need a handful of players to top up for any injured AFL players. Who would want to come to a VFL club under that...
On paper that will look like the case but don't underestimate Sandy.
With the weeks break, Box Hill will start as firm favourites. But hopefully Sandy can surprise the Hawks and sneak a win.
Jamar also gave away a few free kicks against Pierce during the game. Pierce has been very good the past 2 weeks against bigger bodied players in Dawson Simpson and Mark Jamar. Hopefully we'll get Holmes back after this week and can have a Holmes/Pierce ruck combo as both are in pretty good form
Sverik...my understanding is the final would be at TBBO should we finish second. Paul Hudson indicated as much when talking to the players after the game
I doubt if we'd see Tom Currren back after so long out. He is now walking without a moon boot but don't think he'd be anywhere near match fit. Would love to see him play again this year though. Cockie could be ready for the first week of finals I'm told. Been doing oxygen chamber to speed up the...
PS...I would hope that they stick with the 15-8 regardless of who is available. It's worked this year during the home and away so hopefully the same applies in the Finals. I understand the logic of breaking the limit but I'd still persevere with it during Finals.
Correct Squiz...it's 15. This year has been different from others in that St Kilda have had very few injuries which means there are more players available than spots available.
Last year when we played Collingwood in the final it was 15-8. That's 15 Sandy and 8 St Kilda that highlights the...
Playing in the development squad. Unfortunately his form at the moment means that is where he'll be playing. Disappointing for a guy with as much natural talent as he has
From what I can gather, Saunders was dropped to the Development Squad due to an indiscretion. Payne, Goddard and McCartin all rested. White and Pierce played seniors due to Templeton and Shenton being called up yesterday.
The 15-8 rule has been in for a couple of years now. Causes issues when...
Was a pretty bleak dressing room after the game at Willy...quite a lengthy discussion about the game. a few players spoke but the one who impressed was Hugh Goddard who stood up in the middle of the room and spoke to all the players. For a first year player to take the initiative like that...
A few of us were discussing Holmes' kicking yesterday and we reckon it has improved heaps since last year. Around the ground he's improved as well. Not just rucking which with his leap is something to watch.
Was Mitch Brown's first full hit out with Sandy. 6 goals with 3 in the last 1/4. He's...
Tom Simpkin copped an elbow to the jaw and was as angry as I've ever seen him at a game when he had to come off due to that. Not sure how much damage, if any, but it didn't look good after the game. Hopefully it's not broken and he'll be ok to play in the next couple of weeks.
Adam Cockie got 2...
The current agreement is 15 St Kilda 8 Sandy players. That was set in place after the Scott Watters reign. When we played Collingwood in the finals last year it was 15 Sandy 8 St Kilda due to injuries. So of course in the early rounds of the 2015 season there will be more than 15 St Kilda players...
I'm happy to have them in...after all, they have played the required amount of games and more in some cases...plus it's 12 Saints 11 Sandy so it's pretty fair imho..you have to pick your best side with the players available in a game as important as this
Hopefully Sandy put up a good show...
