Heatherton realistically should've been 6th in line to go up and play Div 2 next year. That is where they finished last year with a 9-9 record in Div 3.....so well done for taking the opportunity in going up.
Firstly, have Mt Waverley folded? If not, they should be made to play the year out in...
Great point regarding divisional football and I'm all for it and it will generally balance out leagues and see less 1 sided contests. I'm also lead to believe South East footballing body is having talks about re-structuring footy in the area which could see Peninsula, Nepean and the South East...
I know Chelsea Seagulls have been struggling the last 10 yrs since their last flag in 2006, but cant see them coming across to the SFL. Too much history and rivalries in the MPNFL eg: Edi Asp Sunday clashes (they used to be brilliant to play in) to make the move and I believe they shouldn't...
Great for the competition these upset results........but it would be even more competitive if Port Colts were involved. We all know where they should be playing this season. You don't sit 4 games and over 100% on top for no reason.
Don't need this in local footy anymore and it's not the first time CPL have been involved in drama. If i was the league i would look at whether or not they should be in it.
Injuries or not for the money East Malvern are spending they should be doing a lot better than what they have shown. They are too top heavy and slow and I'm surprised they continually recruit these types of players when results the past 3 seasons have shown they lack leg speed across the ground...
Just let Dingley play Port Colts next week and then we have the two best sides play one another in the SFL. Oakleigh / Mordialloc / Bentleigh last 3 years have shown the gap between D1 and D2 is not what it used to be.
Fixture up for the first couple of rounds on the website (11 teams / 12 clubs) with the joint EB-Bentleigh team. Surprised that neither Skye or CPL had a team this year thought the Southern part of the league was where all the growth corridor was for juniors. Only a couple of seasons back Skye...
Fixture up for the first couple of rounds on the website (11 teams).......by the looks of it a couple of teams didn't go again this year from out the South East- Doveton Eagles and Hallam. With Lyndhurst Lightening coming in surely that has hurt clubs numbers. I wonder how Dandenong will go...
Yeah was a good hit out although the wind made for scrappy play at times......would've liked it to be a bit more open. Doveton will defiantly be up there in Div 3 this year. Some handy inclusions. Heatherton had a few out as well but that's practice matches. Also didn't have their kicking boots...
Will be out of Yarraville and North Footscray. We played the devils on the weekend and they got us by 20pts in the seniors. They have strong depth and this will hold them in good stead. Apparently they had 3 players out.....2 of their goalkickers from last year. Had some good onballers- Red head...
Pretty sure Port Melbourne didn't play in this comp last year boys! I reckon they will be the best bet to cope in Div 1. Played WRFL Div 1 last year (stronger comp) and have since picked up a few recruits back this year.
Heatherton (SFL div 2) played Maryborough Rovers yesterday in a practice match (only 1 game 4 x 15min qtrs.) and won by about 5-6 goals. Both sides had about 8-9 senior players missing from all reports. Rovers played quite a few young kids and had a few handy players.
How are points awarded to the team with the bye this year? Is it just 4pts (Win) / 0pts (Nothing) / 4pts (With maximum % For and Against from that round). I know it'll even itself out as all teams have 2 byes but just curious.
From my knowledge never played at Chelsea Heights......yes had a year at Chelsea in the MPNFL but not the Heights. Can you please make a list of all 19 clubs. I reckon I've got him at 14-15, but I'm sure I've missed a few.......a character of local footy!
Carrum-Patterson Lakes way too far down on this ladder for my liking! Some of the experienced players they've recruited will be very good Div 3 players...having said that I still think Doveton and Sandown are just slightly ahead of them. I've got Doveton as 1, Sandown 2, CPL 3 and then the rest...
Apparently Sam Anstey signed on again as coach of Mordialloc for 2013.......with a new assistant coach Ben Phibbs (his mate who played together at St bedes. He was at Mazenod this year). Rumour has it there might be a few more recruits in the pipeline. Lets hope Mordy get it right this time and...
Generally speaking most quarters were only 22-24mins in length, not just in the Grand Final.....but the whole finals series! So yeah about the right amount of time.
How was the classy display of the umpires 34-9 was the free kick count. Not sure if CH were the best side on the day, when they...
My tips for Round 9:
Clayton
St Kilda City
Chelsea Heights
East Brighton
Cheltenham- not sure who St Pauls still have out?? Will be a ripper of a game, when was the last time they dropped 3 games in a row? Maybe back in 2005 when they last missed the finals, but maybe not even? If they lose...
Each round throws up some interesting matches but I believe this round could be defining for a few teams....all games are fairly even with the chance of the underdog getting up. Sitting on 33/35 so far after round 7, so going to stick with the favourites but without true conviction.
Tips for...
Another tough round for tipping with early morning rain on Sat may have an impact on the results today? Wonder if it will be raining later?
Tips:
Highett- playing consistently, like these in and under conditions. Need to stop Anstey.
East Brighton- depth of 22 to get them over the line. Bruno a...
Tough round of football and for the tipsters.....at least 3 or 4 games that could go either way. Will go for the favourites but the rain and wet conditions may play a part.
Tips:
Heatherton
East Brighton
St Pauls
Clayton
Chelsea Heights
Be interesting to see the ladder tonight if we happen to...
Thanks big G.....so far my Div 1 tipping this year is 10 tips correct /10 games played.....so not too bad! Would've gone for Dingley until I got the late mail on Poyas playing for City. As it proved he was probably the difference with 3 goals and a best on ground performance. Does anyone know if...
