Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Er, yes... Yes. No, you're right. Obviously. Had they beat us GWS had a 50/50 chance of having a home final. (In fact, Freo were favourites, so slightly better than that even). They could easily have slept at home and played Port @ ENGIE. But they  chose to play the Swans @ SCG first week...

But neither do the "He lost it at selection!" crowd. Rather than ranting, tell us, clearly and logically, who you would (and wouldn't have) selected, and why. You constantly choose to believe (?) that a coaching group can plan to win big games at Geelong and at Sydney and v. GWS (we were also...

Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

That's quite a take given Port was playing away to Freo after our game. Freo had to win to play finals. They just needed a Port loss. The % swing had nothing to do with it. Also, GWS beat Port by 4 goals at Adelaide in a final last year. Play a well documented finals choker, or at the home...

Alternatively... Won just 1 more game than us in 2023 and had a worse %. Conceded 120 more points on the year. Won as many finals as us this year and were completely outplayed and out-coached in Rd. 23 when they absolutely needed a win to not finish 4th (to not play Swans at SCG).

Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Should we somehow train to be better on the dimensions of a bigger ground? Yes, I don't think anyone would disagree, but  how becomes the issue. We still have to win enough games to make the finals so we can't just abandon our "smaller ground game"... ...(Which is well documented that we were...

Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Fair points, and it's this part of the game that really stands out for Macrae and CD in particular. They don't have the speed to close down space, and even if CD does he's easily outmarked. For all the talk here about being lost at selection (*), the only thing I would have changed is Poulter...

Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

I urge you to watch rd's 19, 20, 21 and 24. The high press and pressure is absolutely part of our game. The majority of our problems occur when we can't get the ball forward from the centre. (I'll argue all day and all night that the bigger, wider MCG is a major disadvantage to our set up as well).

Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

How so? Lay it out for us. We're 2-2 last 2 years, winning both at their home ground and losing one late at a neutral venue by less than a goal. I've been meaning to expand on this for a while... I can't remember if it was you Doggy or someone else who suggested that at least 5 of the top 8...

Autopsy Hawks defeat Dogs elimination final.

No one cares about a few $ being hedged anywhere, but I suspect the lack of any emotional connection or particular interest implied by 'not even watching the game' has rightly triggered a few.

I didn't watch long enough to see him laughing it up after the game... ...I'm all for a post-game chat etc, more-so than others here I suspect, but last night? He should have been too embarrassed to stay on the ground any longer than he had to. I don't care so much about any kind of killer...

Plenty of discussion on the Fox coverage about him... It will be a very interesting call Brownlow night, that's for sure. I thought Dale was BOG, and Richards definitely in the votes, but yeah, as you and others mentioned it's the 1%'s that Bont is on a totally different level than anyone else...

    Game Day 2024 Round 24 Discussion - 🎉 Grand Final Week 🎉

Houston to Short this week was a nice nostalgic end to the year I felt. Thanks for all the fun along the way... ...and a genuine thank you to the usual Late Changes guys. You know who you are.

Yeahhhhh...a couple (literally one or two) of our tackles could have been high, but weren't paid. The O'Donell htb was awful, but I don't think it the rest was poorly umpired at all. (Hogan's was definitely a mark).

I'm not even convinced it's a calf. The early vision in the rooms and the later in the bench made it look much more ankle (por even potentially heel?) rather than calf. (Hopefully not achilles...😬)

I wasn't at the game, but it looked to me as he was running with Darcy Jones?

Review Sam Darcy and the Bulldogs maul the Roos

Agree. At one stage he marked 30m out (hit the post), but lept in front of Cody to mark the ball. Nothing unusual in itself, but Cody kinda stood there 'miming' a chest mark, but no humour at all from Bont. Almost gave him a dismissive look. He has been noticeably goal hungry in the last month...

Well, I saw Gags in full colours in the Virgin lounge this afternoon, so he's definitely off to Sydney to play VFL. (Didn't see anyone else).

100%. I think it's fair to say we've all been various degrees of surprised by how good his been, but the biggest positive for me has been his kicking! I remember there being a couple of shockers very early on, but some of the 30-50m passes he's nailed during this run have been outstanding.

Game Day 2024 Round 21 Discussion - Finals Week 1

Oh man, don't tell me that. I'm on day 5, and most days have started ok before a very steep, downhill slope a couple of hours in. 2 more weeks of this will just about end my will to fantasise... (er, in a sporting sense, obviously! 🫣) Good luck everyone.

What They're Saying - The Bulldogs Media Thread - Part 4

Not the right place I know, but just watching a replay of the game from the weekend. My distain for Brian Taylor is generally pretty clear, but check out this gibberish; [Talking of Swans injuries], "If McIntyre (sic. I assume he means McInerney), Rowbottom, Papley and Rampe are out for any...

Game Day 2024 Round 20 Discussion - the Carnage Continues

There's never been one. Wasn't ever a written 'rule'. Just one of those unwritten old skool AFL things. Umps are just red hot now as soon as you take your eyes off the ball.

Lobb shines as Dogs thrash Cats at pork barrel stadium 95-48

It's funny you guys say that, and usually I'd agree... ...but I think we got the rub of it, especially early in the last. ☺️

Lobb shines as Dogs thrash Cats at pork barrel stadium 95-48

Yep. The 3rd man up rule mat have 'killed' us, but Sam Darcy is killing it right back! The words, "extra midfielder" get thrown around a lot, but wow, is this kid a freak. 🤩 Nothing to add. We dominated a game from start to finish without Bont (arguably) being in our 5 best. Richards...

Game Day 2024 Round 19 Discussion

Surely the only person in the entire football world who doesn't realise this is Brian Taylor. Then again he barely knows the names of any interstate player out there. (Genuinely, the other commentator had to take over at one point last night because he didn't know half the Adelaide squad. 🙄)
