Schofield, McInness and Bennell in for Brown, Lamb and Nelson. I was surprised Bennell wasn't in for Round 1 and was dropped a few times last year. The only thing I can think of is that he does seem to get scored against frequently. But rebounding backs generally do.
I tend to agree in part with OP, there's a huge amount of attention paid to elite disposal.. But hitting targets has always been important, what's changed is the pace of the game over the past decade or so. No longer is being a good kick enough, players need to make the right decisions in a game...
At the risk of being unpopular.. Shannon Hurn is starting to annoy me.. Sure he's a great kick and is great when he's got time to deliver. But under pressure he has gone backwards this year. His kicking out last night was generally diabolical.. Granted the options werent great at times but he...
We really do suck. And will continue to do so for some time yet. But what worries me most is the total lack of heart being displayed. Sure we're not as skillful as teams like Collingwood but a lack of skill doesnt mean you cant tackle or chase. That poor attitude is reflective of poor coaching...
And yes he's young and sure he takes the game on...
But message to Tom Swift....
F****ing run into space and not back into trouble everytime you get the ball... Yea sure it's fun dodging and weaving.. But sometimes you can actually run #^*@+ straight.
I wonder how Woosh's mid season review from the board went? A pathetic performance like that so close to a review might have repercussions... What who am I kidding. Trevor Nisbett is still President.. As you were.
Our midfield was destined to be crap before Burns got there.. Recruiting one pace plodders wasnt his doing. Not that I'm sticking up for him. The entire football department including him should be shown the door...
Out: Well take your pick on that performance. Easier to pick the players who should stay in the side.. Natta, Shep, Lecca (if fit) and maybe Pridis..
In: Anyone who hasnt played this year, hell bring back some of our 1992 Premiership side.. Fatty Lamb, Don Pyke and Monkey Brennan.. They might...
Justify that performance Woosh! Young side, too many injuries, players a little tired after a week off.... Thanks for 2006, oh and take Suma and Nisbett with you.
I know what your getting at but he's also carrying an increased workload too. Playing in the forward line and not resting on the bench as he was doing previously. It also doesnt help that our midfield are, well rubbish and fumble even when the ball is delivered to them on a plate. (As Ebert did...
Re: At least we still have Hungry Jacks
Pretty appropriate sponsor when you think of it. Like the Whopper, the Eagles look good on paper, but the reality is quite another thing.. Sloppy, messy and leaves you full of regrets (and indigestion)
Seriously I cant find 5 who deserved votes.. I'd hate to have to find F& B votes in that lot today?
That being said
3 Cox
2 Waters
1 Rosa
No one deserved a 5 or a 4
Will probably be shouted down on this but I thought Dalziell was one of better players today.. Seems to not only inherited Rojo's jumper but also his scapegoat status on this board..
For what it's worth:
In A Selwood, Stevens, Hams (rookie elevation) and Notte (might as well give him an...
Re: Sack worsfold!
Supported him in the past...And sure there are excuses today with injuries to our midfield.. But the game plan and lack of enthusiasm out there today is just wrong. Stevens should have been selected this week, even he travelled as just an emergency.. Seriously what is Nico...
Time and injuries have caught up with him. Constantly beaten on the lead... And in general play zones off too far and not quick enough to get back.. Mind you the lack of defensive pressure through the midfield makes his job harder as well.
Agreed probably could have been a depth player next season, but as was his want put the club first.
A very good player at his peak who's work off the ball made Cuz, Judd and Kerr's life a lot easier.
Well done Stinga on a great career..
Tough one, in terms of raw ability both on a par with each other. Both are pretty hard at it, both have questionable skills at times, and both are competing with better equipped players in our squad for games.. Toss a coin.
A lot of potential changes this year.
Unlikely we'll make this many changes to a developing squad but most on the delist/trade list would be on shaky ground. (A few have had their share of chances Staker etc, whilst others like Davis would be hard pressed to make it into our best 22, granted...
Great game today. Not sure about becoming a gun, but progressing really well. Has been a standout since he's made his way into the team. And has been said given us a much needed bit of pace through midfield. FWIW his kicking has improved out of sight too and is now pretty reliable.
No depth nor pace in the midfield = poor team.
The worse?
Away from home definately (who knows why, but we might as well not get on the plane because we dont show up until game is over!)
Tanking?? Again not sure but when you pick a side as tall as the one that was selected today...
5. Masten
Daylight
Still more daylight
4.Rosa
3. Glass
2. Hansen
1. A.Selwood
Dishonourable Mention: Hurn (was due for a shocker after a great season, and he had it)
