It was reported that we had 16 players in the rehab group at Monday's training. My starting guess at the list:
1. Oscar McInerney (shoulder)
2. Linc McCarthy (ACL)
3. Tom Doedee (ACL)
4. Darcy Gardiner (ACL)
5. Eric Hipwood (groin)
6. Lachie Neale (foot)
7. Hugh McCluggage (achilles)
8. Kiddy...
Obviously, Murray Davis was highly regarded but really looking forward to Stewie Dew joining the coaching team in a full time capacity - so highly rated as an Assistant coach at Sydney and brings with him invaluable senior coach experience to assist Fages.
Speaking of Darcy - how good has he become since his debut in a cut-throat final. So courageous and reliable, week in, week out. Full credit to our recruiting team.
Interesting because on the AFL broadcast last night, I thought Cal Twomey referenced "top 20 picks" on 3 year contracts as distinct from "first round picks".
As a matter of interest have we ever been in a position to bid on another team's father-son or Academy player and pulled the trigger to "keep them honest"?
Gerard Healy reckons Joe Daniher is a chance to make a comeback in 2026 - just clickbait stuff I'm sure but if it eventuated, how on earth would that happen...would Joe have to go back into the draft?
Joe Daniher's career 'not over yet' as AFL legend makes huge call on retirement backflip

According to this Fox article published yesterday, Fages has been given a one year extension until the end of 2026. Not sure when this happened:
18. Chris Fagan (Brisbane)
There is no senior coach under less pressure heading into next year than Fagan, who led the Brisbane Lions to their first...
I really thought that that game was his "breakout" game and for whatever reasons, including limited opportunities and continuity in the Firsts, that was not to be. I hope he gets picked up and goes on to have a good career like Mitch Hinge and Ben Keays.
Just checking for understanding of List spots - are we going to be forced to announce some further delistings in coming weeks to accommodate the draft and any DFA acquisitions?
