I’m going all in on Knevitt (just like I did last year, lol)
Is it just me or does George Stevens look very trim on the photo/s? He could improve a fair bit with less weight.

I thought last year would be Knevitts break out year and then Dempsey came from nowhere. Knevitt has the goods, he will have a very good season - good to see Danger pump up his tires.

Apologies if some has already asked this question.
I don’t follow how we have “3 INS” and 10 “outs”. We don’t have 7 picks in the draft as far as I know.
What are peoples thoughts on how we get a full squad?

The strange part about pulling together the best 23 is the positioning of Stewart. The permanent addition of Humphries and I couldn’t move Z Guthrie. I’d prefer Blitz back which probably moves Stewart into the centre dropping back for support.
I found it odd that Stewart was the one making way...
Best 23 for me:
B: Humphries, J. Henry, Kolo
HB: Stewart, Blicavs, Z. Guthrie
C: Holmes, Danger, Dempsey
HF: Mannagh, Cameron, Miers
F: Stengle, Neale, O. Henry
Followers: SDK, Smith, C. Guthrie
I/C: Close, Bruhn, Bowes, Atkins
Some changes I expect next year:
Blicavs was great down...
So I thought this Oliver stuff was rubbish.
I now think it’s a real possibility.
It seems it was basically up to Oliver to cut his salary and he (understandably) needed time to digest that.
It also seems (with sources from all 3 parties) that a first rounder for next year was floated...
He might be done but I’d keep him in the squad if it was up to me. He’s on 296 games - he deserves 300. I’d find a way to keep him in the team but my very biased worry is Humphries has taken his spot.

Disappointed in the result but proud of the club.
At the end of 2023, no one saw us in the 2024 Prelim to lose by only 10 points to last year’s Grand Finalists. Particularly with a team without Guthrie, Hawkins, Rohan, Tuohy and I’ll even include Parfitt given his experience (did I miss...
I say this to my mates - it’s been very expensive to be a Geelong supporter over the past 20 years. So many expensive finals tickets. My Essendon and Carlton mates can’t relate and don’t show any sympathy.

I’m starting to think we need to trade into the draft. Pick 15 plus isn’t going to cut it for us to win next year. Do we do something very bold and offer up a SDK for a bunch of first rounders?

With the exception of Bowes, all of those players are 21 or 22 years old. They are the nucleus and you ordinarily don’t win a flag with that age profile.

It’s amazing to think that we’ve basically had 20 years of reasonably consistent preliminary finals.
I’ll never forget the 2004 Prelim. It was the first one I’d seen live and it was electric. A young Ablett, et al. We narrowly lost to Brisbane and their coach Leigh Matthews taunted us post...
I noticed Butters chatting with Jezza at the end of the game. I’m always a little suspicious when a senior player chats with an opponent. I’m not an expert lip reader but I’m pretty sure I saw him say ‘come join us next year’. No better time to say such a thing after giving them a flogging...
Yeah, but that rebuild period was tough. September 2023 was such a long month and it felt like such a long long gap between the end and start of the season. I don’t know how other supporters do it.

Absolutely. I thought the same thing. I loved that he dropped something about Bowes coming to the Cats for less money but gets to play finals (hint hint anyone thinking of coming to us…). Very smart. If I’m a quality AFL player I’m definitely considering the Cats.
I also loved the way we...
I’m still in a state of shock. I was confident we would win, but didn’t see that coming. We are two wins away from a premiership!
This club is amazing.
The other thing I love about this particular team is the age profile so many young players that will play good football into the future - so...
Can’t believe this question - do Stewart and SDK get back in the side?? [emoji23]
And assuming the answer is yes (of course), who goes out???

I’m extremely optimistic.
None of Sav, Evans and Narkle would be best 22 for the Cats. They’ve lost Houston, a quality player.
Our midfield is unrecognisable to the one that lost to them by 6 points. We had C. Guthrie, Mullin, Blitz, Parf, J. Clark, Duncan and MOC going through the midfield...
I’m confident.
Last time we lost to them our midfield got smashed. That midfield was missing - Dangerfield, Bowes and Bruhn!
Holmes has improved massively and Stewart now plays midfield.

Absolutely agree with this. AFL team/coaches didn’t want to lose the chance for Guthrie and Hawk to prove themselves. A rest did nothing for the AFL team.

Missed the game but pleased to see Foster kicking 3.2 and 13 disposals.
I see high potential in this bloke. At only 19 and 197cm I hope the list management team keeps him (contrary to suggestions of some on this board).
