Yes I will always remember stuffing around with an injured player on the bench for what seemed like a quarter as one of the most asutute tactical moves by a coach. So decisive!
Check his Roster thread. Had several years when he dealt with back related hamstring injuries, which restricted his movement. I believe, the talent was always there, just needed to get his body right.
Before we forget, for 2024
1. Fort
2. Joyce
3. Sharpe
4. Reville
5. Prior
Special mention to DevRobbo, who didn’t get a game but was emergency a number of times. And Smith and Brain who have their careers in front of them.
Joe is really the Chris Fagan/Brisbane Lions gift to the AFL over the last five years. Who but Fages could have managed the beautiful, flawed, unique and engaging Joe in the game and playing well for so long. All true AFL fans should have loved the Joe Show.
I think you have the top three right and in the right order. However I would have to think abit longer to get the next two, no disrespect to Aker and Zorko.
Agree this paragraph is damning, if true. Not sure it validates his conclusion. Last para is cut but I isn’t the whole article debating and criticising “wokism” (whatever that may be). Author suggesting you can’t do this?
Anyway please reply in the relevant Den thread.
Interesting side note. Jamara grew up at Framingham Aboriginal Trust. The former leader of the trust, Geoff Cark has just been sentenced to jail for fraud. No idea of the family links between Clark and Jamara. Obviously tensions in the community. May be a reason for Jamara to seek to get out of...
Hard to fault your logic. Lashcroft to come in as well as Oscar. If Ah Chee and or Bailey get pushed out of the best 23, other clubs will come very hard for them. Bailey would be the ideal addition to the Blues forward line. Ah Chee now a starting forward in just about every other team.
A good...
I don’t think Ryan Glider has played vfl. Would be very interested in seeing more of him. Pretty sure Crusha (aka Cecil DeMille on UTube) has posted game highlights. Seems a guy who could play a discipline third defend role but could be picked up as a rookie as his stats don’t stand out...
BigFooty rumour (somewhere in here) that he lacked aggression. I thought it may have been a false narrative so we could pick him up cheap. Played a very good game (for a underage ruckman) in the vfl.
I understand he can play as an underager in talent league next year and is still tied to us...
I think Haley also invented the “keep it simple” approach but Matthew’s gets the credit for adding “you’re not rocket surgeon
“ or something like that.
Greene behind a few on our list now, move in his best interest. I still recall that screamer he took a couple of years ago. Hope he has a better run with injuries. I wish him the best of luck.
Off to my first WAFL first game today. Hope I don’t jinx the team.
Going with Miss knaf, who is a wafl Lions member and Mrs knaf, who is a long suffering supporter of the team her family supports. Given my vision issues won’t be able to follow the game much but will hopeful add my voice to the...
No real like for like in our current group. I would say most like Lohmann. Low position high impact. Quick, or maybe quick reaction time. I can’t seeing him replacing any of the players listed ( baring injuries). Bit of an undersized third tall. On going debate about actual height. To me he...
We’ve been a top four team for a number of years.
Joey is a big loss. “Unlucky” in previous years. “Lucky” this year? Perhaps loss of motivation due to finally achieving the ultimate.
On the other hand very deep list with younger players coming through. Good coaching and culture MAY mitigate...
I remember that Hawthorn game. Couldn’t believe how bad his performance was. May have put a question mark against his name. However I thought he played an acceptable game in his one afl game this year. Has been consistently good at vfl level.
As I have said before he plays like an undersized...
Tough decision, but probably the right one. Hope he gets a chance at another club.
Also note “The club has also advised mid-season draftee Darcy Craven and defender Darragh Joyce of its intention to re-select them through the rookie draft for the 2025 season.”...
I thought ithe voting was 15 minutes into the last , basically half way.
It wasn’t just the the possessions in the last 10 minutes, it was his we aren’t going lose attitude. Didn’t he cop a hard shirt front, bounced right back up to win a contest.
Where was Buckley?
And I agree Neale by a...
