Not that optimistic to be honest. 2009-10 have been so disappointing that it's hard to imagine why we would bounce back now. The players don't seem to want it as much as they did a few years ago. Even more concerning is the structural issues that we haven't yet fixed. I think David Hale will...
I'd say Robert Campbell is looking very unlikely to be picked up at this point. His injury won't hold up for a full season. We wouldn't be trying to get David Hale if that wasn't the case.
I wouldn't be giving away pick 19 for a 30-year-old. I say we use this pick to get a good midfielder with pace. Someone who could push for selection as early as next year.
Gary Moss and Beau Dowler are both Gone IMO. Moss can be handy but doesn't seem to offer enough to warrant a contract extension, and Beau Dowler is shot to bits in the upstairs department. No doubt Sydney will recruit both and turn them into figgin All Australians.
I'd say Jarryd Morton and...
I'm a big believer in Max Bailey. He's 206cm and built like a brick shithouse. Only played 6 games but has genuinely impressed in each one. Obviously the coaching staff feels the same way if they've stuck with him this long.
Before you start launching into a premature rant about incompetent trading. Just have a look at how much influence Shaun Burgoyne and Josh Gibson have been allowed to have.
Seriously, you don't want him right now. I'm sick to death of his reluctance to make a lead, put any sort of defensive pressure on, or even take more than 3 steps before having a shot at goal. I want him at Box Hill right now.
If he's injured then, he's injured. But if fit, i don't see a reason why you wouldn't play him. Brad Miller doesn't seem capable of playing as the main forward. So unless Dean Bailey wants to give Michael Newton another whirl, it seems as if the demons have no choice but to suffer unitll Watts...
He definetly has his flaws. Your definetly rite in saying that he gives away too many frees in the ruck and yes he doesn't read the play too well and at times it makes him look very slow and/or lazy.
But having said all that i thought he played very well yesterday and his actual ruck work is...
Geelong won, it' over.
From a Hawthorn perspective however, I'm not too fussed. Injuries are no excuse, but we did have 3 debutants out there.
Even if you replaced Whitecross, Suckling and Schoenmakers with Ellis, Ladson and Gilham, we may well still have lost.
But it's no use...
1. Hawthorn - The reining premiers have the youngest list.
2. Western Bulldogs - Why doesn't anyone give these guys credit?
3. Geelong - a great side but dominating for 3 years is a big ask.
4. Collingwood - Really up for grabs but i think the pies are a little better
5. North Melbourne -...
Scarlett had ALOT of support from team mates and to be honest i really don't think he had much to do with Franklin having only one goal to half time.
I felt sorry for Harry Taylor because it was only in the last quarter that Mark Thompson (for some weird reason) decided to keep buddy and...
Why Matthew Scarlett at Full-back? He was injured for allot of friday night's game and when he was playing it's not like he did anything special.
I think you went with reputation on that one.
Well done Zac!! I always thought he was given a raw deal with us and i'm happy to see him star in his first game with you guys.
My favorite part was when he gave the bump to the big bald dick Barry Hall!
No, if anything they are making him better. I know this will be taken the wrong way, but having good players around him will always benefit and make it easier.
