What are some effects that could've changed a premiership team's season

This, and BBB getting off after slugging a bloke in the guts in the PF, add up to the biggest gift in VFL/AFL history. Unbelievable. AFL desperate for a Swans fairytale flag that year.

Definitely a Big Footy thing, IMO. A couple of years back, I spoke to the mother of a 2016 GF Swans player who said she (they) had no issue with the Dogs or with the GF result. Said she was surprised that I felt the need to ask about it.

    Disgrace - MUST READ!

Great kick along, M T 😄 Betty Smith was the Membership Office manager when I bought our family m/ship in 1997. Not sure how long she had been in that role, but I think she was still there into the 2000s. Also, Maryanne was one of Betty's team of assistants, as I recall.

    Macrae a Bulldog for life

Bernie was the victim of his first game as a 17 year old, when he kicked 3 goals in the first quarter and 4 for the match. He took a few marks, including two screamers. Ran rings around the Fitzroy players all day. Many supporters expected him to do that every week, unfortunately. A couple of...

    Macrae a Bulldog for life

Good old days, indeed... I worked with Thorpie in the late 70s. Can confirm your impressions of him 😁 I was fortunate enough to play with Charlie in the Dogs 4ths & 3rds. The best footballer I ever played alongside, and one of the nicest and most humble blokes I've known. Deadset hard nut...

Nathan Brown was spoken of in similar tones when he left for Richmond in 2003, actually.

Humble kid from a good family, a church goer even after being drafted ("I still go when I can"), stoked to be at the club. Having had a chat with him just prior to his first pre-season game, I came away thinking we'd struck gold with such a well balanced, hard working young fella. 🙁

Call me old fashioned, but as I see it a teenager in his first year - with virtually no pre-season - is generally going to take a bit of time to develop the strength, skills and nous to match it with more experienced, hard bodied mids. Given the quality of our midfield, 2024 was always going to...

I've been wondering lately... How would the Cats' recruiting "strategies" change if the owners of Cotton On were made a godfather offer from an international company that had no interest in Australian sporting teams/clubs? Would be fun viewing, I'd think 😊

Might be channelling my boyhood Bulldog heart here, but I think XOH may find some serious improvement with us. He's the grandson of a Dogs premiership player, been a Dogsman all his life. Then he's been drafted by...the Plastics 😱. The arch enemy. Post 2016. How would you feel? If ever...
