A 2nd round pick was 'late' in the evening last year.
Last 10 first round picks-:
Tick - Thilthorpe, Doedee, Milera
Getting there - Fogarty
Too early - Cook, Pedlar
Questionable, but improving - McAsey, McHenry, Jones
Cross - Gallucci
What's really missing from the above is a fully-fledged...
Depends what you consider to be 'late in the draft' (my definition would be 50+), but Hamish's last 5 ND picks over 35 have been Rowe, Gollant, O'Connor, Sholl & McPherson. All still listed, all still capable of becoming decent players.
Look, Hamish is no recruiting genius. I'm happy for him to...
Gotta remember that in any Luke-Edwards-should-be-a-Crow argument, you have to take into account that he was passed up by plenty of other clubs before West Coast at 50. We weren't the only ones to underrate him. Not saying that if becomes a good AFL player, that we didn't blow it, because we...
Jimmy Rowe has been a terrific pick-up. This shouldn't be a Rowe vs. Edwards 'argument'. If we wanted both Rowe and Edwards, we could have had them. We didn't.
We clearly didn't rate Edwards. Possibly looking like a mistake (he was really impressive tonight), but early days.
I've no issue with our recruits from last year, they are all showing something. Luke looks like he has improved rapidly at the Eagles. Good luck to him.
Luke played well tonight. Played with composure. He reminds me of Tyson in that he seems slow, but also seems that he has plenty of time. Too early to call, but he's looming as a pretty decent pick 50. It helps when you are playing in a very organised, professional team. Liked the look of Foley too.
Despite injuries, Saints still a much more experienced team (only 3 sub-25 game players picked, compared to our 10). Anyone thinking we will walk over an injury-riddled team is just kidding themselves. They still have enough talent/experience to win, but hopefully we can get the job done.
Not...
Could easily be something other than the two reasons you've mentioned. So, yeah, it could be complicated - or at least not as obvious as you make it seem.
Whatever the case, the club needs to explain to its members/supporters why we passed up the opportunity to draft (try out) 2-3 players, instead of 1. I think we deserve to know. I'm quietly frustrated.
Murray has one hallmark of a key defender nailed = effort. He had 24 one-percenters yesterday. Needs to work on his 1-on-1 stuff (big-time) + absorb some footy smarts from somewhere.
Doesn't matter where we are on the ladder, we always seem to save our worst performances for the Pies (15-28-1 vs. Collingwood is our worst WL record by a fair margin). It would be bloody nice to buck the trend and get a win this week.
Out - Berry (injured), Mackay
In - Hately or O'Connor...
My main wish is that we use two selections (ideally three, but I'd be content with two), not the one pick that is being predicted. It would be a waste of an opportunity, as per 2019 when we passed on our MS pick.
