AFL in Tasmania....would be the prudent idea. AFL doesn't want it? For all intent Tasmania deserves it for a number of reasons...the main in my book being a histrorical one. Tasmania is a football state...and allways has been. Offcourse they dont have a conclusive backing.... yet. It's all so...
As far as cricket goes...they still battle on...and have been for the last 132 years. Our little cricketclub is only 106 years old.
There is also some referance to aussie diggers playing cricket for VVV in thier leave time during WWI... and subsequently did some aussie rules before and after...
True...and like any sport its easy....as long as you play amongst other that have never played before...
Play soccer with any european or south american amature soccer player and the word "easy" will dissappear from your lips if you ever get a touch.... and eventually wait for the nurse to...
Great idea but??????
Basing it on Engeland...or any other association based country means to forgo the franchise based system. The AFL would then be nothing more than a organising body that controles the competitions and accoutable to the Australian Rules Football Association. The ruling...
Knowing the rules isnt really the problem. Those could be taught whilst playing the game, or during practise. It's getting everybody weary of the game. When skychannel was on the regular cable australian football was on every week....but a year later they stopped the programming and when behind...
That is the term in countries where soccer is not the number one sport...In 95% of the other cases football is the term.
The South American countries, European countries, Engeland, Wales, Scotland, Ireland...however the following.......
The Australian national football team represents...
Footy is Australian rules, Grid iron is American Football, Soccer is only known as soccer in either Australia or America. Anywhere else in the world its football...or Association football as the official term is called.
As for comparing Sydney Swans with Chelsea, AC Milan, Bayern Munic, Ajax or...
Hmm Very good point, that only adds to WHY Tasmania has a right to the AFL bid. Tasmania has allways been a footy state. NSW had RL and union as a code...but changed to another for....succes, TV, money....what if soccer comes along with an attitude. Will they leave footy to play...
There is nothing wrong with wogball. How many a time when someone waggled a wog whisking woefully wimping did I find myself in tears....besides.....wogball hasnt killed wogs wags or waddles...so there...
I have heard this so many times. How many Tasmanians follow an AFL team indeed? But for...
Very true. TV coverage would inspire new buisnes. Inspires schools and clubs to set up youth programmes. Especially if they have the same construction as they do in Europe...where the contracting/buying club has to pay a fee towards the football schooling program of where the player enjoyed his...
No growth.......
I have heard this before....when the Eagles were going to be formed. The "true" VFL'ers thought nothing would come of it.
As far as I am concerned....If you brand yourself Australian Football League...make it so.
As far as growth yadda yadda yadda....... If they perform...
Oh my god.....it's the Burke and Wills mystery all over again. Do they know if the 2305 ever made it home...or are they still wondering in search for anz stadium??? I.E. the great ANZ stadium walkabout!!!!
Interesting concept. Tackling in rugby is made to stop a player from making headway...once on the ground he has to let the ball go....and the rucks, malls and and so on..and take it from there. (By the way I have never seen a rugby player studding heads come to think of it...all gentlemen)...
Tasmanian living in Holland. At present we have set up a dutch footy team, "The Flying Dutchman" and I am setting up the first club footy team in Holland with the allready based Amsterdam Cricket & Hockeyclub 'Veni Vidi Vici". The footy team will be nicknamed the "Triple V's". The palying...
