I can’t believe people are already saying we have too much depth, despite us still having one of the youngest lists in the comp, and having not really achieved anything (yet). The players we are talking about are hardly household names, and opposition clubs aren’t exactly knocking down the door...

I dont think anyone has their knickers in a knot, I just made the innocuous comment that I don't think he supports us much on field these days. Doesn't mean he's not a hawks person, or a loyal Brisbane board member, or etc etc. But Ned can't let a good argument go, and I guess either can I

First of all he’s not paid it’s an unpaid position. Secondly there’s no rule has to support against us. Bartel did it the last 5 years as a board member for GWS whilst actively celebrating a Cats flag with his mates.

Look I love Leigh, and have probably spent well over 100s of hours listening to him talk football on radio the past 10+ years. I probably respect his insights on the game more than anyone else in media. It's obvious we hold a special place in his heart, but we don't need to go all nuffie sugar...

He said he was supporting the Power and wanting them to win because, mainly because he felt they were the underdogs after all the hawks hype that week. I don’t doubt that he’s got a great connection with the club and its history, however, I don’t think he feels that connected with the modern...

    Most Heartbreaking Loss

Those games were god awful but I remember just laughing by the time we played that Geelong game. We’d had so much success and were playing so poorly all of a sudden, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. It never really hurt though the way some other games have. 2012 ripped through my soul...

2012 GF. I stormed out a the siren went and went straight to the 7-11 on Wellington and bought a packet of cigarettes (I'd quit 4 years earlier). Had a friend's party but just chugged on the cigs all night on the balcony, drowning my sorrows. I still enjoy a cheeky smoke here and there, and I...

Fixture Hawks after Tasmania? Sponsorship extended to 2027!

I think we played Sydney there in 01 and Adelaide in 07. That's just the policy for the lower ranked Melbourne based teams if there are already 2 games at the MCG, I believe.

Apropos of what you’re saying; https://www.thedailybeast.com/american-tennis-star-slams-embarrassing-interviewers-at-australian-open/ This sort of matesy, blokesy, ribbing each other culture that has spread from footy to basically all our media is getting its right whack internationally. Scaife has shown no more than Jeka and Callow had at the same point. He's a project player at best. Sicily as a forward - eh - the flexibility is nice, but he's an All Australian defender and Sam has all but ruled out him making a permanent move forward.

One of my fave 90s games that I went to. I remember I went with a kid who was staying with us who was from overseas and didn't know the game, and he spent the entire first half giving me shit for how crap we were. Ended up rubbing his face in it a bit...

News Hawthorn Racism Review - No player name speculation - opposition posters tread very carefully

The report wasn’t sent to ABC, Jackson was alerted fairly early on by someone I think you suspect who, that there were some serious allegations and he pursued them with all original reporting and interviews.

Apologies, I meant the AFL receiving the report which was 10 days as you’ve mentioned. My point still stands. It was reported by Gerard Whately at the time and others (sorry I can’t find a link) that the ABC started speaking with the players well before it was submitted to the AFL.

News Hawthorn Racism Review - No player name speculation - opposition posters tread very carefully

Sorry mate, this is just false. The club only received the report about a week or so before the ABC report went public, and all reporting to date suggests that they were talking to the press concurrently with Egan. You might be right that they suspected that nothing would be done, but what...

    AFL Fixture 2025

Very happy with our fixture, great to be back in primetime. With young kids, half the games the last few seasons I've had to watch on delay or via my phone between kids sports and birthday parties, so it's nice to be playing a lot more night footy. Sucks that Marvel tenants are slowly creeping...

Disappointed for JB, I really thought he'd be given another crack, but understandable given how tight spots are. A good reminder for folks that these boards are often perused by family members of players. Particularly worth remembering when diagnosing a player with ADHD based off an action on...

The court of public opinion is fairly irrelevant. If the AFL knows and the club knows, then there may be items they are protecting from the public due to how offensive it might be.
