AFL Player #32: Ben "Buckets" McKay

Disagree. Has shown a number of times this year he is shaky under a high ball, dropping uncontested intercept marking opportunities. Also, you don't pay big bucks for someone who is a one way player. Our defence needs stand up when forward pressure is NOT good. I checked the Wheelo stats...

Ok. Draper was fine then...snuggle up to that thought tonight.

Yep - however, from a coaching perspective - we kinda looked like we had the game under control uintil the last 5 minutes.

Coach Men's Senior Coach: Brad Scott

Agree partly. I think nearly every AFL player has skill. It's the ability to execute that skill under pressure that counts. We look great when we can free wheel. But when the blowtorch is applied (whether it be through opposition pressure on the field and/or media or external pressure), many of...

    AFL Player #11: Jade Gresham

scored 2.0. on the face of it, that seems fine. can't remember him laying a F50 tackle or winning a crumb at ground level, other than his banana goal at the end (which should have been the sealer)

AFL Player # 2: Sam Draper - The mullet hath returneth - 22/6

Yeah both of them I guess. O'Brien seem to win every stoppage tap in the last 5-10 mins

AFL Player #30: Nate Caddy - reunited with best mate Kako

I'd rather blame another 15-20 insipid efforts from senior players, than bag Caddy for his shit banana

    AFL Player #29: Jye Menzie - Signs on for 2025 - 18/7

My 8 year old son can see that Menzie is not best 22. When he saw him in the VFL last week, he said "good, that's where he should stay" And I agree. It wasn't just him tonight though, Guelfi and Gresham were putrid also

AFL Autopsy RND 13: Done By The Blues

I’m really not sure what game people were watching last night It was disappointing to lose, yes. I hard Carlton with a passion. But our effort was there. And pretty consistent across 4 quarters. Carlton had a few patches where they torched us, but we seemed to be winning the arm wrestle for...

Delisted #19: Nick Hind - Not offered a contract for 2025, thanks Hindy! 26/8

He was fantastic on the weekend However, he ran under the ball 2-3 times that I can remember and let it out the back. Needs to tidy that up

Preview Round 9: Essendon vs The Orange Team, Marvel Stadium, Saturday 11th May, 4:35pm

Most in the team were involved in the embarrassing round 23 game last year I'd like to see a bit of edge this weekend. Can cop a loss, but expect a fierce effort at minimum

AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (VC)

I think the improved kicking has come about by banning himself kicking around corners. As in, he's been told to back himself and run, bounce and carry, break the line, then kick when in space. it's a huge improvement He does need to be told he doesn't need to bounce after taking 3 steps though 😅

If he can do what he did yesterday, consistently… oh boy! Would have liked to kick that goal from the Langford spot too, after the 50m

    AFL Player #37: Nic Martin

Great last quarter, but really good for the whole game too Had his obligatory biting off more than he could chew moment for the Mihocek goal, but he’s obviously got license to thrill. That goal in the phone booth in the last - 🤩

AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (VC)

I’m eating my words with McGrath. He’s been mostly fantastic this year. He shit Hill down after half time and created plenty from half back Maybe he’s finally found his role, maybe it’s the contract year? Either way, he’s found his place in defence and I like him there

Love him. He’s the kind of glue guy you need to be a good side. Might even be better than a glue guy too, let’s see. Tough as nails Edit - thread banner needs an update. Looks weird him tackling a North Goldy 😝

    AFL Player #33: Alwyn Davey Jr - Minor knee surgery - 4 to 6 weeks - 25/1

Pressure is fine, but he can’t stay in the team for his pressure alone. Needs to find more of the ball, as he often looks like making something happen when he has it Nick Kommer MK2 at the moment. Not sure he will be able to stay in the team when we get Guelfi and Perk back.

AFL Player #32: Ben "Buckets" McKay

Looked really shaky under the high ball a few times yesterday. Missed some chances to take an intercept mark or get a fist in. Had a complete fresh airy at one stage which may have led to the Harrison goal? A player of Mihoceks size and speed should not be beating McKay. I have actually been...
