The greatest Captain in the AFL era

Carey had an astounding finals record. The man was made in the 2004 finals series. He is better than Kernahan in every area apart from off-field leadership.

    Any value in the delistings

    I like Dick.

The greatest Captain in the AFL era

Carey was the best onfield captain - and by a margin. He always stood up when required, he consistently brought other players into the game, he asserted himself physically to help out teammtes, he directed traffic and he inspired. And he did it all from the hardest position on the ground...

    Brendon Goddard v Daniel Wells

And it was clearly better than Goddards.

Mega Thread All Australian Watch: 2011 Cont'd...

Re: Josh Gibson Firrito was better last year, Gisbon is better this year, but with Grima and Thompson coming on in 2009, there was no rom for him. That is not to say he was a bad player, but he was surplus to our needs and still is. It was a win/win - no way North would reverse that trade.

Hart vs Kernahan vs Carey vs Brereton

If you want to see dominant performances in finals, go watch Carey in 1994. Infinitely better player than Dermie and Sticks (as good as they were)

Can North make a better game of it this time around?

Nah, that happened on Saturday night (Geelong a bit better than Collingwood, Essendon a bit worse than North) But it would be a big upset.

Can North make a better game of it this time around?

We are a very different team from round 1. I reckon we will do ok. It will be tough, the MCG is an unknown 3/4 into the season, but it is winnable. Strangers things have happened. Hope we go with some bold, rather than safe, selections.

    Preview Changes vs Pies

Time to inject a bit of excitement! Tarrant for Grima (Narni to get fitness up, Tazza big, exciting and in form - Tarrant head to head with Cloke) Urquhart for Pratt (Probably a week early for Urqs, but caution to the wind, his form is building and his boot and pace could change our team...

He only looks good because he has a good mid-field around him...

Who does it apply to? Would Trengove and Martin be better at Geelong? The only example I can think of where it did apply was Des Headlend. But he was a very outside player. I don't think it can be leveled at any mid with a inside game.

If you want to see a good reason for playing 2 quality ruckman.....

If Laidley had got the trade for H-Mac for pick 4 through, we would have had our choice of (one of): Hamish Hartlett Michael Hurley Chris Yarran Daniel Rich Steele Sidebottom Would people have been happy with any of those in retrospect or is Hamish more important to us going forward?

He only looks good because he has a good mid-field around him...

Most commonly directed at Ablett and Selwood over the last few years. Doesn't apply to either.

Does Ablett finally put this bullshit reasoning to bed?

Why did Norf hire the younger, dumber and fatter Scott brother?

If only he displayed the courage that Plugger did with his hit on Caven.

They don't smoke - that was for their crack pipes. I have seen Stanton smoking at pubs a couple of times.

Past #4: Liam Anthony - delisted by NM end '14 - 4th in 2016 Sandover Medal

Was very surprised to see LA as sub given his game vs GC. He really came on and made an impact - agree that after a rough start he is really starting to come good.

    Atley v Heppel

You were told?? This was the exact story reported in every paper after draft day. They even had quotes from Bryce Lewis.
  25. T

    Mark Fine

The man is a gun. He was very important in 2007 - drove the media campaign against relocation in the face of SEN counterparts like Bartlett and Smith.

Post Round 13: What did you learn from the round?

We didn't thrash them. And we are a fair margin better on paper, so they should take some heart that they managed to grab a lead late and get within 21 points by the end. it is something to build on.
  27. T

    Toast Edwards

Did nothing for most of the game, but his last quarter was both huge and crucial to us winning.

Post Round 13: What did you learn from the round?

Friday night doesn't get more boring than Bulldogs vs Adelaide Buddy ain't too bright North Melbourne have a far superior list to Essendon Reiwoldt is a shell of the star he once was Dustin Martin is unbelievable and should have gone number 1 in his draft Freo are mentally weak
