Play Nice James Hird rushed to hospital - suspected overdose

Foolish statement. The reality is that there is no integrity or accountability in the media. They can slander and report rumour as fact as much as they want. They are absolutely responsible for driving the popular public opinion especially in this case where the facts have been completely...

Analysis Which 2016 top 20 picks won't make it?

ahahahah are we still crying about this?! Go and reach for the box of tissues sweetheart. We copped our right whack, in fact the greatest in the history of the game. And we are still standing. Despite two years of losing our 1st & 2nd picks, biggest fine, banned from finals, players banned etc...

Draft Watcher Knightmare's 2016 Draft Almanac

KM, with all due respect i'd be filthy if the draft panned out that way for Essendon. No way is Graham a top 20 pick ahead of the likes of Venables/SPP/Battle. Picking both Graham and Sharenberg would not make sense.

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

SPP - don patch sword would we be interested in him? Looks dynamic from what i've seen and his kicking action is pretty sound considering all of the criticism. Is he one of those guys that just needs to steady a bit more on his kick? Reminds quite a bit of Dusty Martin. A McCluggage/SPP combo at...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Clearly you don't like other people having opposing opinions that you perceive inferior to your superior observations. That's cool mate. Either way, i've also seen him play at Champs and TAC and think he is a better half back than midfielder, but agree he can play both. I want us to draft an...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

FFS what is bollocks about it? He is a small defender who can go into the midfield and do a good job. Never disputed it. Perhaps have a closer read of my comments. For me, his midfield ability is still secondary to his ability off half back. You can dispute it, we can disagree.

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Never disputed that he can play midfield, which he clearly can, but that is seen as secondary to his ability off half back.

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

To demonstrate i'm not the only person that thinks this 'crap', this is what Cal Twomey said in his most recent phantom form guide "The small half-back takes the game on using his elite pace and agility, and is trusted to set up the play and gain metreage for his team. He can also shut down...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Against the best kids in the country at the Champs he played as a HBF. No doubt he can roll through the midfield and be very good, but when he was tested against the best he was at half back.

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

At the Champs playing against the best kids he was a HBF and McCluggage was a mid. Sure he has the capacity to play mid and do it very well, but for me McCluggage's weapons are better suited to our mid group. Parish and Merrett are already around the 180 mark - having 3 players at that height as...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Pick 1 on a 177cm HBF with average kicking ability would be disappointing for me. McCluggage has a far higher ceiling for improvement and is a point of difference for our midfield mix. Do the right thing Disco. Get a HBF with Pick 20 or 29.

    Opinion Number 1 pick

I'd still go SPS ahead of both. His combination of speed, class, disposal, and time is unrivalled.

Your first 3 selections for the Dons would be a great result.

Should Essendon bid on Setterfield with Pick 1?

Essendon would be more likely to bid on Bowes than Setterfield.
  19. hollywood23

    Opinion Number 1 pick

Not sure it's been mentioned, but MClugg was coming from a fair way back this year given he had next to no pre-season and clearly has an underdeveloped body. With that in mind his performances this year are even more remarkable. Put him in an AFL system for 2 years and attributes that were once...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Yeh, but if he is adament he wants to leave for a new environment and better $$, Freo either have the option of letting him go for nothing or receiving a reasonable deal right? Really no different to JOM. Two 1st Rounds picks and probably a player is where price is at i'd think. A price i'd be...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Well it's the same scenario as Dangerfield isn't it. Geelong hardly had to sell the world to get him, could be done for 2 first rounds picks IMO. Edit: and a player like Zaharakis/Colyer/Myers perhaps

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Perhaps, but hope we do everything in our power to sell him the world. Marquee player in a powerhouse melbourne club playing Anzac/Dreamtime every year, performing in front of crowds of 50-80k every week, talented young list going places, best training facility in the competition, and a club...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Operation Nat Fyfe 2018 must now begin. The momentum we will have built by the end of 2017 will be an attractive proposition for a star looking to move. Take the salaries of Watson/Stanton/Bird/Howlett out in addition to the cap space we've created with loss of Hibberd/Cooney this year and...

Traded Jaeger O'Meara [traded to Hawthorn for pick 10 and GWS's 2017 2nd rd pick]

Would be stoked if I was a Hawks supporter. Watching his interview confirms it - he is the full package. Wouldn't care what the club has given up to get him, it's worth every dollar. Hope we see him back to his best.

    Review Winners? Losers?

Fair call re Essendon, but I think in reality we achieved our major plans which was to keep the suspended players we wanted to keep. JOM was the one we wanted that we missed and didn't have interest in anyone else. Happy we didn't go for stop gap options. St Kilda/Freo clear winners.

Delisted #17: James Stewart - Will be delisted despite having a year on his contract - 24/8

Would be surprised to see him given another contract unfortunately. I think some issue outside of football will also be considered.
