if you rock up for 2 hours a weekend I can definitely see that yeah, but to the coaches and volunteers they are definitely not invisible (for better or for worse...)
worth keeping in mind a lot of these community programs are run by like 1-2 blokes max on average salaries employed by the WAFL club
in my time the WAFL affiliate would provide training and resources to the coaches of the junior teams, along with umpires/logistics for all the fixtures. they were basically the governing body. assume it is somewhat similar today.
