There's no 1 activity you can do for this unfortunately but hear are some thoughts off the top of my head.
1 - Some kids are far more competitive then others and will stand out in these instances and you can't fast track competitiveness and as we've all seen, often these same kids develop into...
I've ran my site called aussiesrulestraining.com since 2009 initally with a focus on strenth and conditioning but now 99% focused on coaching and has been for the last 5 - 6 years.
My tip is for jr coaches is it isn't what drills you do, but why you're doing them
I "did" my knee in the last game of the season in 2015 aged 37 and returned for praccy games the following season but when I say "did" my knee I was never gonna get surgery and therefore never got it checked out to what I actually did but the mechanism of the injury and the ensuring pain...
The stop/wait/pass thing is a by-product of the 6/6/6 so generally once we exit say defensive 30 and we can really use width as the ground opens up, then ideally we want all forwards 60m from the ball, mids in the middle an then the backs running from behind and being used until about half way...
It's not all or nothing just heavily favoured towards an offensive an attacking style as there's still a strong defensive plan that goes along with it and yeah we'll iron some crinkles over the pre-season and make it even better on both sides of the ball.
Outsiders, and probably a lot of people...
You're on it!
So another year of training this game style should hopefully cover some of those defensive cracks we saw last season but it's strictly pressure based at the ball and if that's off then the Gold Coast game and elimination final 1st half is what it looks like
My thoughts after reading all this for those that care:
KEY DEFENDER
In a perfect world we’d have a key defender in the mold of our other young guns having played 30 – 50 games and ready to hold down CHB/FB from now on but we don’t and we can at least cover it for now via Rampe/Melican/Fox...
Pertracca will never be that good again so considering he's on the downward spiral surely a trade for an up and coming youngster in Dawson is in the mix?
A clip from the Geelong game in round 9 at the SCG showing us defending width when they switch then depth when they go forward + how our "lanes" work for us both defenisvely and offensively.
Happy to dicuss any of these clips by the way
This gives us a look at what our preferred formation loooks like tooeep the ball trapped in our forward 50/half
In short we want tall forwards at the back closest to goal, our small forwards 10 -15m in front of them for hit up leads if the opp defend deep and we kick long
OR
to crumb we...
My thoughts for those who care:
Parker - will get done 1st
Dawson - will get done 2nd
Hewitt - unfortunately 3rd option and it's not like he wouldn't know it but I see him as our JPK inside bull replacement so hopeful he can take a moderate-ish deal for 2 years then once JPK is probs done and...
Yeah, far more attacking
Change #1 - We try not to defend from way back in defensive half as it's a long way back to our goal from there where turnovers and opposition pressure is higher.
Now once we get a mark we roll the forwrads deep into 50, wings/mids to half forward-ish and instead of...
Here's a clip from the weekend's game looking at how once we get a nark and can dictate play, we get our forwards deep and our wings relatively deep and wide to create space for runners from behind which then feeds our pressing ability at the ball and the next kick in play
We do this all the...
I'm not getting to the Ponsfird anytie soon but watching the Richmiond game this year from up high at the G, you could really see some of the new things we'd implemented and really pushed me to watch harder for all our other games to see if I could work out how to do it and possibly use it for...
Thanks guys.
Apart from not gunning for a GF, the Swans getting knocked out also results in a bit of "sameness" of game style from the remaining clubs even if they way they go about differ - the Swans style is so different to everyone else in regards to angles and you can tell when you watch it...
Long time BF member/Swans supporter, short term Swans forum lurker and 1st time poster!
I've done a bunch of my own analysis of the Swans new game style this season on my website, including last weekends heart breaker, so I thought I'd post one of my clips from earlier this year (West Coast...
you need to follow them for as far as they go otherwise you're playing 1 less - make sense?
then try and lose them on the way back and cause an outnumber for your advantage
Ask your coach what he sees your role as and what actions that entails so you can gauge your game on more than just kicks and handballs
Also when there is a stoppage in your forward 50 then man up on one of the oppo's best mids or follow one of your and they'll take you to the ball, giving you...
Cred on the bigfooty forum coming someone who doesn't seem to know their facts before they post...ya ****ed up mate just admit it as you though I coached there when a 5secs of research would have told you I never did...and south yarra won a premiership in 2019
you;re cooked mate go back
Good god you'renot covering yourself in glory here are you?
Sorry to break the news to you keyboard warrior but I'm not at Sth Yarra anymore so I'll accept your apology and you'll fact check in the future
I'd steer away from skill specific stats as that really just shows what your top players are doing so I'd track data based on your game model/plan so you can track them every single week and every player is involved in them
For example if you want to play a forward half game then track things...
Mate it looks like you're a totally different body shape than Dusty but at your age i was 141cms and 41kgs
If you wanna drop some kgs then keep active/training and read this - http://aussierulestraining.blogspot.com/2020/03/footy-secret-2-lose-weight-easy-way.html
reading the play "all on your own" is near impossible and is more a product of YOU knowing the team's game plan and all the other players as well
so if the plan is to swith the ball out of defense then as a wingman you know you need to get to the far side as soon as you can and the backman know...
