    Bigfooty General Metal Thread Mk.VI

Aussie metal recommendation: Ne Obliviscaris. New album is out shortly, have heard it, it's truly magnificent. It's got a bit of everything, progressive, experimental, death, black, folk, ambience, epic, violin etc etc. It's like Opeth on steroids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMorAdnCixg

Didn't see it mate, sorry. But the more it gets out there the better!

Can anyone tell me if this song is any good.

It's yet another one of those dance tracks that are just SO SO bland that they need hot scantily clad chicks in the film clip to give it a modicum of interest. The fact that it's about the world's blandest sport makes it even more dull. The checks are indeed hot though...

There just so happens to be an absolute ripper on this Sunday evening: http://www.facebook.com/events/133707160064295/ Circles, Synthetic Breed and Hatchet Dawn are all awesome. Some of the others are pretty damn good too. Check it out.

    Triple J turning tripe?

What they do for Aussie music is still absolutely invaluable, make no mistake about it. But the problem is that they are so mindbogglingly cliquey it's just not funny. They're on air 24/7/365, they have the time to support EVERYTHING, not just what they feel to be cool and hip in this...

Do you go to local shows? Melbourne/Australia is really starting to produce some quality heavy/alternative/progressive/metal acts.

You don't have to go to see big overseas bands to hear quality metal in Melbourne.

    Underrated Bands and Singers.

In this country: Rush. 44 years together, 20 incredible albums, check out their list of accomplishments as a band: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_received_by_Rush And yet, very few are familiar with them in Australia. They've never been here, never will come here. I've had to go...

Substructure sounds awesome, just the kind of stuff I'm looking for, cheers! Bought Vildhartja's album, having a little difficulty getting into it. They're songs are just a little obscure and unstructured for me.

It'd be awesome to think that the 'Vool's influence has extended that far.

Check out this French band 'Uneven Structure'. It's djent-y and progressive, and a whole lot more. Epic, atmospheric, ambient as well as heavy and technical. http://basickrecords.bandcamp.com/album/februus French metal has come ahead in leaps and bounds in recent years: Gojira, Dagoba...

Going To Gigs On Your Own

I go to gigs and the footy by myself all the time. I prefer the footy that way. Gigs, I'm happy either way. The only bummer is what someone else said, you can lose a good spot to go and buy a beer or take a piss if it's a packed out show.

I interviewed Marten the other day, he said the new album sounds 'spectacular' and 'enormous' but 'organic'.

Yeah I have a couple of Sikth albums. Really like them. I meant to mention 'Aliases', who are the guitarist Pin's new band. Their debut album 'Safer than Reality' is awesome, I think I like it even more than Sikth. Thanks for the recommendations folks, will check em all out, and keep em coming...

The Big Seattle Four - Grunge: Who was the greatest?

I love them all, but AIC get the nod from me, since they are just that touch heavier. Dirt is an absolute alltime classic.

Yeah, I've had trouble with Textures. I've got their last 2 albums, they're a band I SHOULD love, but there's just something about their sound and songs that doesn't completely grab me.
