The Marquee players were all about the $ and plum jobs.

The loyalty factor should become more of a thing with young players being drafted by clubs in increasing numbers.

Should also settle down once the league has no more expansion teams entering the league.

Agreed Bostonian. While I get the need for the expansion clubs, and realise that their inclusion can’t be achieved painlessly, I really think that it’s wreaking havoc with the cultural fabric of the AFLW. As you suggest, it will be nice when the structure of the comp settles down in a few years time.

Four picks in the top 30 - we can pick the eyes out of the Vic Metro squad, and as I mentioned this generation of players have been playing football since Auskick, they will be quality, and ten year players if they display more loyalty to our former captain.

Bulldogs have 1, 6, 8 and 9.

It really sucks the AFL gave Richmond the 1st pick as priority and not pick 2.

I'm choosing to be happy that we kept everyone else. That to me is a great outcome and indicator of where the team is going.

I don’t blame Bri one bit. Disappointed, but so should Bulldogs be, they’ve lost a few great players to expansion or trade. The money and external opportunities are all part and parcel of these decisions. Good luck Bri and hopefully we collect some good fresh faces in the return. Go Blues.

End of the day I still think overall she's still a quality person that shes always come across as, and no doubt a fantastic footballer.

But this sucks.

On the one hand I want to say don't let the door hit you on the way out, Bri, but on the other hand I want to say wish you well. Very weird feeling.

I guess the issue with getting bulk draft picks is you can't really guarantee they'll be there for more than a year or two. If one turns out to be a gun it's more likely they'll get a mega offer elsewhere. I'm fully behind the AFLW but it makes it hard to build and sustain a brand with these outcomes. If anything we have been lucky to retain as many players as we have thus far

Thats my concern also as it is now the women are only on 1 & 2 year contracts so if the comp doesn't expand to allow 3 year and more contracts retention will always be an issue .
Which is why I would have preferred a player to be involved in the deal as well who I dont know .
Also really not sure how we aren't getting 2 first round picks out of losing Davey as imo she is a top 5 player in the comp .

We paid a similar amount for Nic Stevens at the same age and she isnt half the player Davey is.

To all the people saying good riddance to Bri, how many of you would be upset if we poached a lifelong Carlton supporter in Steph Chiocci from the filth? Or, stepping back into the mens game, we pinched young Daicos from the filth... His family are all Carlton supporters as well!

Because Bri wanted to go and play for the team she supported as a kid, we are calling her disloyal or a traitor. How many of you know that Kouta is a Filth supporter, but he loves Carlton and is completely loyal to Carlton... but what, if during his career he decided to ask for a trade to the Pies. We'd all be a bit filthy on him for that right. But, getting someone like Doch to the club is fine because he is Carlton through and through!

1st 2nd and a 3rd rd pick of which not sure what number that 3rd is but certainly no guarantees that player will be quality .
Imo we were stitched up .

In such a young comp only a few years in. And living in tassie. I for one admit i have been ignorent on players that play for our team. I have no idea on backgrounds or names. I just like carlton. But i like our style and the way the girls play. Its actually quite good to watch. I would like to see the competition grow even bigger.. so in 8 years my 2 girls can hopefully get drafted if they are good enough. For now. I support the blues. Go girls.

Yeah, from the GF side we need to replace Bri, Mullane and Lucas-Rodd. It’s also evident from Adelaide’s performance that we need more players who are one touch players that can break and stick tackles. Choosing 7 of the best 30 players in the Vic Metro pool (including pick 2) should increase our depth. I’m looking forward to seeing how McKay progresses after another year of training.

No doubt Bri is a massive loss but we can still improve as a side.

Last year, it probably never crossed her mind... then this year, the filth came in with a godfather type offer for her and she would have been a fool to take it. But weight that with the fact of having the chance to play for the club you loved as a kid, who wouldn't jump at the chance!

Roughly what we paid for Nicola Stevens, who is a great player but no Bri Davey IMO.

Picks we get will be worse than what we gave Collingwood (number wise) given more teams and compromised draft.

But I guess that's about max compo you're ever going to get unless you get a player back as well.

I'll miss Bri. She was probably my fave AFLW player.

Good luck at Collingwood (I feel dirty saying that).

The people responsible for that trade were either fired or jumped ship in response to the start of the 2018 season.

I think its on us to make sure our best players are well compensated and don't feel like they need to leave for better opportunities.

I'm not going to wish her good luck because Collingwood sucks, but I don't wish her ill will either. You need to take care of yourself.

She was close to leaving last year too.

I reckon Eddie has offered some opportunities that we can't offer.

We will be fine. I think her season was okay but nothing special and she hardly ever smiled when the team one. She knew she was leaving all year.

In this case, she left because of better off-field opportunities. I'm not sure we were prepared to burn cash the way Collingwood have in order to accomplish that.

I'm more annoyed at Richmond getting pick 1 on top of all the great players they have poached.

They traded it for Conti.
