Well sometimes I get the source of the angst even if I disagree with it.

eg - I can see where the Jack Mahony critique comes from.

But Jy? He's got a body of work which includes a B&F and some amazing opposite foot passing. He's got next to no senior backup doing consistent heavy lifting with him in the midfield yet is still doing a bit.

Just don't see the issue on this one.
Something is up with him. Whether he's carrying a minor niggle, playing a new role or just being blanketed by the opposition (which I see happening.) Right now he is our best mid so teams plan around him. Even tho his disposal output is down a bit he is still working hard to create scoring options. Which is actually pretty impressive for someone with no hurt factor.

Disposal is down by considerably more than a bit, even by hand he’s missing open targets

I can’t believe the reactionary shit on here.

The guy has been leading the midfield (and the team really) for 3 years as a guy in his early 20s in one of the worst performing sides of the modern era.

Yes, he is down on form and possibly carrying injury. As we are without so many players, we don’t have anyone who can be doing that first touch contested work to replace him (maybe Powell needs to replace him in the short/long term).

But, have some effing respect. While Ziebell has technically been the captain, Jy has been carrying the team for the last 3 shit seasons.

Jy just needs a spell is all. He will be back and doing the usual first touch contested work in Ben10s absence and generally kicking arse.

Has Jy's disposal by foot officially become a concern?
Officially? Dont know. We cant be criticizing the next so called captain like that.
He's a leader so he's allowed to hack it forward or just hack it anywhere in general.

This is the standards we have as a team.

On a separate note, how would he go on the wing? I know he played a bit there last year but have regressed all memories of that season so don't recall.

Feel like his kicking is less shit when he's on the outside, and despite putting in some questionable chases he does have a big tank (by our standards) and works hard generally,

He's done it!

With a whopping 13 in yesterday's game, Jy is officially #1 in the league for total clangers and clangers per game!
No no no, people are being reactionary. You know, just can’t see why the criticism.

Maybe it’s cause he’s playing like absolute shit.

Real issue when Jy is the one the young kids say they look up to.

Felt like his clangers yesterday was a lot less damning compared to other weeks to be honest.

Seemed to be a number where it was more an issues like lack of structure, forwards getting led to the ball etc. compared to the week before when he was being a pure butcher.

I think it's also due to the fact St Kilda aren't as damaging on turn over as the other sides we have played.

The 40m helicopter inside 50's just need to stop. I love Jy, he puts in every week and bleeds blue and white. It's about him knowing his limitations & the coaching group (particularly Russell in the midfield) setting up our structures so that he is not the receiver from congestion. It needs to be LDU, Tarryn, Stephenson or a running half back flank.

He had 4 targets inside 50 in the 1st quarter that required a regulation 15 meter kick to complete the play. Was a great passage too and he was under no pressure. Targets 1, 2 and 3 were wearing Blue and White. He missed all 3.

In the 2nd quarter he helicoptered 3 kicks inside 50 one after the other. When I say helicopter I mean mongrel punt, Simmo in the 90s, Sam Powers on his worst days style helicopters. The 2nd kick went a longer distance in height then it did in length before it sat on Larkeys head.
Nick has been criticized for not presenting and leading but when the ball is coming in off a shit kick like that why would you lead. And the bullshit excuses about why Jy is hacking it dont count because no forwards are leading. He simply does not give a f*ck, nor does he look where hes kicking to.

I think my favorite kick was the inside out torp in the last off half back that trickled its way to the boundary. It was the most nothing kick of all.

I am not excusing Jy's kicking, it's been poor. His 13 clangers this week just didn't feel as bad as his vs the Dees.

The most overrated player on our list. Noble gives him the most midfield minutes despite him doing nothing defensively, showing no urgency and going missing when things get tough. Sick to death of it.
It's because he is even more useless anywhere else on the ground.
If he becomes captain we will be hiding him somewhere again like we currently do with JZ.

Touk Miller has obliterated him.
