I think part of the logic is who knows if he will get the chance to play a final again?

I mean took over a decade to play in one finals series and if he got injured again or the side fell apart, the chance may never come again.
It's a feel good story that will hopefully galvinize the group, hard work and perseverance are rewarded. The boys have been playing selfish football for 2 months until the injuries hit. That's got them heading back in the right direction but we need a committed 22 playing for each other going in hard and this might be the catalyst that tips it in our favour.

Obviously I want Carlton to win but I want Doc to get through the game. Hopefully we get both. I love Doc, he is an inspiration to us all. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer about 4 weeks after Doc. I have followed his journey closely. I actually had the same treatment plan. I was lucky enough to not have a relapse. I feel nervous for Doc already. Not sure how I will be come game time. Let's do this for Doc. 💙💙

Sorry to be so high level and maybe already noted above, but what has happened to ACL treatment that allows him to come back in the same season he did it?

Was it a lower grade ACL?

One thing worth noting - I remember his form in the early games from his latest ACL comeback was quite remarkable

We will probably not know details for some time but what we do know is as soon as he did his ACL he went back on to the ground and played - and when the diagnosis came it was a shock because it hadn’t appeared to be an ACL given he was able to move around - so the minutes and days after the injury were not typical of an ACL

But we aren’t specialists so who knows what grades and levels there are and we also don’t know what treatment he pursued this time

Doc played 54% game time vs the Giants today, mostly in the second half.

He was pretty rusty and lost the handle on the ball a few times.

But 13 disposals at 85% efficiency, 3 tackles, 2 clearances and a goal. It was just that a lack of pace in the middle and a few fumbles stood out to many of the fans watching. I think they'd be surprised by his DE and disposal tally, given how the match thread sentiment was looking.

Do you think he plays round 1? He did look rusty and I was surprised at only 54% TOG

He's 31, you don't wheel him out in the pre-season to do more than check he can handle some high intensity stints.

If we're getting 20 games out of him this season, that's huge.

Lot of talk on here regarding Doc, his age, what he can and can't do etc.

I have always found him to be a little sloppy in his first few games of the year and then once he gets going he becomes a very reliable player. To start the year off he should start in his All Australian position and play his normal game with a few stints on the wing as an extra defender when needed.

He will still be a reliable player for us and as long as he is playing good football, it is up to one of the younger players to take his spot.

In saying that, if he is struggling, he should go beck to the VFL for confidence and form if others surpass him. He should never, ever have played in last years final against Brisbane after such a long time out of the game, but that is on the coaching staff.

Where was he playing? Have we shuffled him back to half back with the absence of Newman or is he in the mid rotation still?
Wing and on-ball, but for all we know he was getting so much midfield time to maximise the work he was doing in limited game minutes.

Can see him alternating between intercepting role and on-ball until he's more confident handling the wing role.
