The last genuinely aggressive player that had attitude to back his aggression was Warner and he’s gone: you can’t just flick a switch and BE that kind of player. It either comes naturally or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, the best thing you can do is PLAY tough, not try and ACT tough. And they can still do that without trying to be like other past players

Mitch johnson was more naturally aggressive than warner. Now he had the fear factor written all over him. When he said say "get ready for a broken fu**king arm" there really was a chance he was going to break your arm.

He really wasn’t. He was one player who actually had to build that into himself and to his credit it actually worked - I can’t think of many other players who actually managed to do that.

Like can you imagine if a Mark Wood tried to play the in your face intimidator, rather than just being incredibly fast but fairly likeable regardless of who you support? It just wouldn’t work. Johnson to his immense credit managed - maybe it was through something as simple as a moustache who knows - to build that persona into himself after coming into the team as a fairly quiet sort of player.

It’s a moot point regardless as he was part of a team that actually was aggressive and had the personnel and the style and the attitude to back it up. The current one doesn’t, it doesn’t come at all naturally to it.

Agreed. As good as Anderson is and his record proves it...he isn't (in my opinion) an all time great. Longevity is what has helped him to take as many wickets as he did. Good career - yes. But he shouldn't be considered an all time great fast bowler. Still very good though.
