Smith is older and we need to regenerate the team, his form has been as bad if not worse than Lab over the past 18-24 months, and he’s done the #4/opener/#4 shuffle which I think was all quite selfish and done primarily to preserve his place in the team.
Bumrash all over his arseBumrah is all over Marsh.

Average has dropped seven runs since its peak.As good as Smith is and he is a champion, in a stronger era of Test cricket, I reckon he'd have his work cut put against the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh.
Averaged 37 across calendar 2023 & 2024 per CricInfo. Lab is 32 over the same period so I was slightly incorrect saying they were performing the same but I think the point still stands.Averaging 43 the last two years
Not bad
Drops to 29 the last year though
Replay showed it did but the way he played it was shit, stuck on the crease with feet in the air.The ball that got Smith did absolutely nothing.
All speculation of course but I felt that Smith could see his own form waning and the potential to get squeezed out by Green so he jumped on to the opening role to preserve / consolidate his position in the team. The spin was the opposite but it was only spin IMO.How so?
He's not a fat guy but he's overweight for what is needed to be a professional cricket and in particular an all rounder IMO.Fm mitch move ya fing feet
Pity he has no teammates that can bat like this.If Head could have batted like this in innings one the whole game would be different. Goes to show how huge momentum is in this sport.
Presuming we want to replace Smith, Khawaja, Labuschagne and possibly Marsh and Lyon in 1, 2 or 10 tests time, what're the options?
Harris/Konstas/Hunt
McSweeney
Inglis
Head
Marsh/Davies/Webster
Carey
Cummins
Starc/Johnson
Lyon/Murphy
Hazlewood
Bowlers: Boland, Richardson, Morris, Buckingham Johnson,
Anyone else missing??
Is it still (or was it ever) true that he doesn't sleep between days of a test match?Smith's record in 4th innings in Test matches...
Series far from gone. Look at India last time after they were rolled for 35 than played a couple team.
Just have to make the calls on blokes who are cooked/out of form and give the form players/talent a go. Even if it means being unconventional at times.
Inglis gets a go imo.
Even open with Carey.
Webster Hardie young talented guys in form and with a solid 12 months get them in. (India had guys who were net players come in last time win a series and are still in the side. ) Have to be bold.
Should be opening then? He's not a fat guy but he's overweight for what is needed to be a professional cricket and in particular an all rounder IMO.
That is what pays the bills these days. Why is fox cricket pumping up the IPL so much? Never stop mentioning it.T
