Baseball introduced a pitch clock, there's no reason cricket can't do the same with bowlers to keep up the over rate.
Sure. If you stop batsman having drinks/gloves breaks every 15 minutes and remove the DRS.

No way you can overturn a decision on that. Clear doubt.
That means nothing. The ball could be 2inches in front the bat or after contact from that still image. Without a corresponding side shot of the same moment it means nothing.

Overall he's a great of the game and a great person, but also a bit of a weird and somewhat selfish unit. You've read about his effort in the first ever ODI world cup game, yeah?

India's version of Boycott, a good opener though and was one of the first Indian batsmen that didn't take any shit from anyone.

Until he arrived India were subservient to the likes of Australia and England but he took the fight to them and stood his ground.

For 3 extra frames? If that is the reason then it is an absolute load of bollocks. We let blokes have a drink every second over, but can't spare 15 seconds to triple check a decision about a wicket?

I think the embarassment took over in the end.

The DRS review was a debacle. Illingworth was asking for different angles, they couldn't provide them quick enough, and just got hung up on playing the wicketkeeper's view.

In the end no-one had the patience or willingness to drag it out any longer playing snicko on the pads.

If anyone is unsure of his standing in the game, just remember that he averaged 65 against the West Indies, at their peak in the 70s and 80s.

Limited overs has an innings timer.

All test matches need is match referees with a backbone and start fining and suspending players for not meeting the 15 overs per hour.

Where are OP's understating him?

No-one understates just how good he was. He's one of the greatest batsman that played the game.

I'm on record as saying he should have been the opener (along with Jack Hobbs) in Wisden's team of the century (in place of WG Grace).

But he was well known for his dummy spits with his team and his team mates.

And who takes their opening partner off the field because he didn't agree with the decision that was made against him (the LBW to Lillee)?

That was next level sooking and was unacceptable.

I only saw the tailend of his career in the 80s when he was past his best but he was still regarded as one of the best test openers.

India could do with him now, I would love to see how Gavaskar at his peak would've gone against Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins.

The WTC point penalties are pretty big
