Well as much as it pains me, another close loss. Woosha has to do something about our start off the blocks, it's killing us in the long run always playing catch-up footy.

5. Ben Cousins - bounced back from last week, a typical captains display.

4. Daniel Kerr - tackled a lot, very active

3. Chris Judd - a nice spark once again

2. Andrew Embley - i liked him in patches here and there, reasonably active around the ground.

1. Chad Fletcher - a bit more quiet today, but chipped up with the pill here and there relatively unoticed like he always does.

5. Cousins - return to captains form this week. Impressive
4. Kerr - faded out late, but ceratinly got us going early
3. Lynch - shut Lucas out of the game
2. Judd - once again showed us why we love him. Sublime
1. Adkins - more than justified his spot in the side

Mind you at the twenty minute mark I swore that I was going to boycott the voting this week.

Unlucky:
McDougall: Excellent around the ground, think he is not a FF.
Sampi: excellent return, but faded out of the game too quickly
Cox: did pretty well shouldering 90% of the ruck burden.
Embley: held Hird well until the last quarter.

Thought Green was OK compared to the previous couple of weeks though still a little lacking, Jako provided a target up forward (but still kicks like a defender), Hunter, Wirrpunda and Morrison were disappointing. Though Beau Waters looked OK in his little game time.

Assuming Gardiner is out next week obviously we need to bring Seaby in to back up Cox (assuming again that Cox is OK), but I think we need to bring Johnson in. Saw a bit of the Swans-Peel game today and I'm even more convinced we should use him as a leading FF and move McDougall up the ground.

5. Cousins - Very impressive and lifted his side when they needed it
4. Kerr - Played well, as he did last week
3. Judd - Brilliant, what more can i say?
2. Lynch - Played well, dont think Lucas got much of the ball
1. Adkins - Showed why he's an asset to the side, kicking a few crucial goals..

Of all people on the ground tonight, i think Trent Carroll can hold his head high.. If it wasnt for a few soft frees, Lloyd would only have kicked 4 or 5.. Lloyd didnt take a contested mark all night, and this shows why Carroll is one of the best defenders we have at the moment..

5. Cousins - probably our best, but was no innocent in the "2001 quarter" though.

4. Kerr - Battled hard, good return to form and kicked some good goals

3. Adkins - Probably the best he's played for us, if he can step up, it'd be a bonus.

2. Judd - Did some good stuff, but I want 4 quarters out of the bloke now.

1. Lynch - Keep it up Q, better than most in defense.

Stiff -

Cox (shouldering the majority of the ruck), McDougall (showing something at senior level) and Sampi (another one who would be a welcome addition to the "4 quarter effort" club...)

If you're talking about the first quarter Cuz actually led all players on the ground for possesions when we were 8 goals down

Ahh your probably right.

Perhaps I'm harsh on Cousins because he did play well for the majority of the match.

I do recall a bad hospital handpass and a couple of sloppy disposals but at least he didn't kick it into the back of his team mates head.

Cousins sledge retracted.

7 Hird - quite brilliant. We hate him but credit where credit is due
6 Lloyd - the best FF in the game. We hate him, but you have to respect him

5 Cousins - Captain Courageous again, though on this occasion overshadowed by Hird in the end. I get bored with this, but he was the only midfielder who appeared switched on in our terrible start and the rest of our midfield need to learn that footy requires them to use the grey matter between the ears for 4 quarters, not just look good on the run - I have voted for them below, but reluctantly
4 Lynch - outstanding defensive work at CHF and became an attacking threat with his bombs. Also a pleasing lack of clangers
3 Kerr - tried hard, made a lot of tackles, but needs to beat his direct opponent consistently
2 Judd - as with Kerr, I suppose I have to vote for him, but direct opponents are cutting them up and it's costing us games
1. Adkins - did well, scored goals, looked dangerous with the ball, must be more accountable and learn to tackle if he is to play this role well. Plays suspiciously like Callum Chambers
-3 Hunter's haircut

Special mention to Cox - huge effort in the ruck
Sampi good in patches and scored goals again
McDougall good around the ground, but hopeless at FF, too many clangers
Waters didn't look out of place in this company
Carroll did OK and obviously we didn't feel we had an option
Jako did OK
Embley all right in patches

I thought Hunter was very disappointing and couldn't have been fit, otherwise he would have been switched on to Lloyd.
Morrison looked off the pace and made several poor efforts, could well be dropped next week
I am very concerned about the form of our defensive/offensive players, namely Rowan Jones and Daniel Chick, both of whom we need to get on the ground and firing, if only to slow down the opposition when they get a run-on (which is frequently)

We'll bring in Seaby (who was good for West Perth yesterday) for Gardiner, but I'd like to see Johnson in too to stand in the goal square so we can bomb long to a target who is taller than 171cm.

5 Cousins - 30 possesions 3 goals
4 Judd - Went missing at times, but when he got the ball he was awesome
3 Kerr - Battled hard and racked up possesions
2 Embley beat Hird for 3 quaters, then got taken off him
1 Lynch - Thrashed Lucas

Unlucky to miss
Matera/Sampi - both kicked 3 goals, but didn't do much else.

McDougal Played very well, but dropped some easy marks in the first quater
Jackovich Kicked 1 goal 3
Fletcher/Adkins both kicked important goals but didn't get many possesions

5. Kerr, was the only one working hard in the first quarter when no-one else seemed to man up on the bombers opponent.
4. Cousins
3. Sampi
2. Cox
1. Fletcher

Belgarion

5. Ben Cousins -absolute standout game again by the Captain.

4. Daniel Kerr - better than last week, not quite as good as Ben

3. Judd - the third of the "big three"

2. McDougall - huge job to help Coxxy in the ruck. Seemed happier
when he had room to roam around. Perhaps
Johnson to FF and Doogs to HF ??

1. Lynch - beat Lucas who is a bogeyman for us

Mentions to Chipper, Fletcher, Samps and Jako. Chicky was great in the last quarter.
Jones is a worry. Two very bad games in a row. He was the one on Hird in the last quarter too.

5) Cousins
4) Kerr - shut down dangerous Mercuri after 1/4 time and was awesome kicking into the forward line in the 3rd quarter.
3) Lynch - bathed Lucas and his long kicks into the forward line were a revelation.
2) Judd was scintilating...
1) Waters - I know that this is a big call but the guy played for 5o mins all up colected 10 possiesions, 4 marks made good decisions. However the real reason why I am giving him 1 point is that in the fourth quarter he got absolutely set up, by Wirra I think, on the back flank and took a gutsy and courageous mark under sevear pressure. Most of our backline players, Lynch excused. could learn from this kid as a dropped mark would have been a turnover and gone down the throat of M Lloyd.

I agree with that. McDougall seemed a lot better when he was moved up the ground. He has played his best footy for the club in that position too. Id like to see Johnson come in against the Lions next week, a decent big bodied bloke is the kind of guy we need out there against them.

5. Cousins-Who else?
4. Kerr- Played beauifully especially in that first quarter when no one else seemed to of been trying
3. Judd- Fantastic whenever he gets near the ball
2 Lynch- Destroyed Lucas, Great Game
1. Adkins- A nice little game from chipper, i hope to see more games like them

Unlucky-
Sampi
McDougall
Embley
Jakovich

5. Cousins - Another great game from our skipper
4. Kerr - Improved on last week's game, was important
3. Judd - Awesome stuff when he had the ball
2. Lynch - Gave Lucas a night not to remember (personally anyways), well done son!
1. Chipper Adkins - Keeps improving every week, and most importantly bobbed up with a few crucial goals

Unlucky to miss on a vote:
McDougall: Showed a lot of heart in sharing the ruck and forward line duties. Just shows he is not the answer to FF, needs to be further up the ground instead
Sampi: Faded out of the game, but he kept us in it early on and was fantastic
Cox: Rucked pretty well, especially seeing as he had to shoulder the work when Gardy went off early
Embley: Did well on Hird up to 3/4 time and was then moved

5. Cousins- started the fightback, plugged away all day, kicked three stunning goals. Champion.
4.Lynch- absolutely rock solid at CHB- happy to see him on his game.
3.Kerr- Brilliant, loved the banana snap.
2.Cox- Toiled away all day.
1.Sampi- Faded, but definitely our most dangerous forward.

Judd, Fletcher, Jakovich and Adkins were all thereabouts.

Jod, Eagle_Fan smsed me her votes from the game last night, I'll just post the sms verbatim.

"oh my ****ing god **** you appeals tribunal. What a game wont forget my first eags melb game. Waht a game but THREE thrillers in a row? Its killing me.
5. Cuz
4. Kerr
3. Juddy
2. Samps
1. Chipper.
I'm going to get ****ed now."

5. Cousins - what we've all come to expect
4. Kerr - tackling was good, had a very good third quarter, great goal too.
3. Lynch - did very well this week. I'm sure it's a relief to him after his last two opponents
2. Judd - all his possessions counted but still a little patchy
1. Adkins - He's come on. Did well today. Does need to be a bit more accountable.

also:
good to see Dougs finding a bit of it & he did ok in the ruck, impressed with Waters - showed some physical pressence beyond that of a first gamer, Cox showed real heart in the ruck, Embers did a reasonable job on Hird and Samps did good too.

Impressed by the boys heart and also for sticking up for Cuz (even though there wasn't much in the incident), awful to be another loss. Apart for about 20mins we out played the bombers, sucks that we couldn't get over the line
