It's silly season time again.Lots of rumoured driver changes,but how many will actually happen ?

* The whinging Kiwi [Murphy] from SCAR to Tasman [old man co-owner].He goes through teams like Liz Taylor goes through husbands.
* Bowe from BJR to PCR
* Andrew Jones from Tasman to BJR [dad and uncle owners]
* Toddler from HRT to Toll and join Rick
* GT from Toll to HRT
* Steven Richards from JDR to FPR
* Bright from FPR to Britek [confirmed]
* Brad Jones to retire

There are some pretty big names in there. And a very big call to make.
Do you have insider knowledge?
Or is this just a guess?? But I would like to see some movement at BJR!

The Murphy one is now confirmed.Brad Jones mentioned last week that he may step down and Andrew Jones will be out of a drive with Murphy joining Jason Richards at TASMAN.

I presume Steve Richards will be the Blue Ovals big signing this year but I wonder if he is really worth it and putting him in at FPR , is that the right way to go?
I suppose Ford have it mind that with FPR coming on , that a sub standard replacment for Bright will mean one less Blue Oval car at the front but having a look at a couple of other cars/teams makes me think there is another way to go.
I think Winterbottom looks on the verge of being a #1 driver ,his progress since having a decent car has been top notch , likewize Wincup at T8 has been excellent for them.Canto still seems to be maturing and Davidson has been reasonable at DJR To me this shows you dont have to be a big name to get good results ,maybe a guy like one of these , a guy who is youngish , had a bit of driving is now ready for a step up and would be a good support for Frosty rather than wanting to be the #1 and maybe stiffle his progress.

It's come up because apparantly DJR are in the poo by about 2-3 million, basically stemming back from the Westpoint debacle.
 
Latest rumours have Dumbrell replacing Murphy at Really Cheap Racing and that would leave Jack Daniels Racing driverless.Larry Perkins has to lease another licence from someone next year as his 2nd licence agreement with Bap Romano [father of ex-driver Paul] runs out at the end of this year.If he can't get a 2nd licence then JDR will only have 1 car.

He can buy the licence from Bap Romano if Bap will sell it.

If the Romano's do not sell the licence or use the licence, TEGA will acquire it, as it can't be leased for more than ? years, and this is the final year.

Did Paul Romano ever drive a V8 again after the incident at Phillip Island a few years ago that got him suspended ?
If he did race again,it must've only been a race or two.It was one of the more disgraceful incidents I've seen in V8's.

If Jack and Shane are LP's drivers I could see trouble with maintaining Jack Daniels.

Paul Radisich has been confirmed as TKR driver for 2 years if TKR find the funds to run the car next year.

DJR has been bleeding $$ for a couple of years. He has pretty much self funded the team for that long. Westpoint cost him $$$$, and then this year he tried using his own companies V8 Telecom and First Rock Home Loans and neither of them have really taken off.

JB could be heading to PCR.

By the way if HRT really wanted to be arrogance racing they should have gone for MS & RK.

CAT should sponsor DJR.CAT have come out and publicly stated they'll remain in V8's if they can sponsor a front running car.Based on this year DJR would be a good option.Jr is in the top 10 [9th] and Davo [19th] has had a good year,but suffered a from a couple of incidents which weren't his fault.

Hasn't Brad had enough yet? Seriously , he is a huge disapointment , has not looked like it at all. BJR , is probably the Ford version of the Gary rodgers team but at least they develop drivers.If they can't challege for top ten why the hell do they bother.

Do we think Bowe has anything left? Just what would he be like in a decent car like FPR. If he is going to the drive that Marshall was in , would that enable him to be a co-driver in a decent ride ine the enduros?

After the Tander, Todd Kelly switch of this year the rules will be rewritten such that no lead driver can drive for another team. So if Bowe takes the #20 seat as expected, he will have to drive the #20 in the enduros next year.

On GRM, at least in the sprint rounds they have had some decent results. Canto has had a 1st and a 3rd in the reverse grid races, and Holdsworth finished 6th overall for the round at Oran Park. BJR haven't had anywhere near that success.

Dumbrell & Murphy find new homes in 2007

So this is what the 2007 line-up is starting to look like

Same as 2006
SBR,888,HRT,Troll,WPS,DJR,Kiwi,Morris,GRM

Changes from 2006
BJR - A Jones for Bowe
PCR - Bowe for Marshall
JDR - driveless at the moment
FPR - S Richards for Bright
BRITEK - Bright and another driver T.B.A
TASMAN - Murphy for A Jones
SCAR - Dumbrell for Murphy
AUTOBARN - probably Owen
